Week 11 Preview: Los Angeles Rams vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Los Angeles Rams (6-3) face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-3) in Week 11 on Monday Night Football. This marks the first time Tom Brady and Jared Goff have played each other since Super Bowl LIII, when the Patriots beat the Rams 13-3.

With the Buccaneers currently holding the fifth seed in the NFC and the Rams right behind them with the sixth seed, this game has serious playoff implications. Two of the best defenses battling on primetime television, what more could football fans ask for?

Los Angeles

Last week, the Rams defense forced three turnovers and sacked Russell Wilson six times en route to a 23-16 upset over the Seahawks. Running backs Darrell Henderson, Malcolm Brown, and Cam Akers combined for 99 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Goff added 302 passing yards on 27 completions.

Veteran offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth left the game with a knee injury that is expected to sideline him for six to eight weeks. Other notable injuries include safeties Taylor Rapp and Terrell Burgess, who have both been ruled out ahead of Monday’s game.

Tampa Bay

The Buccaneers bounced back in Week 10 after their blowout loss to the Saints one week prior. Brady threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing score on the ground.

Tampa Bay running back Ronald Jones had a monster game. He racked up a career-high 192 rushing yards, including a 98-yard touchdown run in the second half. Jones joined Tony Dorsett, Derrick Henry, and Ahman Green as the only players with a 98-plus yard rushing touchdown in NFL history.

Unlike the Rams, the Buccaneers enter the week banged up. Three starters are questionable to play this week: tight end Rob Gronkowski (non-injury related), linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul (knee), and guard Ali Marpet (concussion). All would be major losses if inactive.

The Rams lead the all-time series 14-9 and have won five of the last six meetings between the two franchises. The last time they met, both teams combined for an absurd 95 points and 982 yards.

Point Spread: LAR +4 (-110) | TB -4 (-110)

Moneyline: LAR +175 | TB -215

Over/Under: O 48 (-110) | U 48 (-110)

Both teams have explosive offenses. However, the way their respective defenses have been playing recently suggests a low scoring battle this week. Take the under and the Rams to cover the spread.

Prediction

Although Los Angeles is on the road against one of the best offenses in the league, the Buccaneers have struggled against quality pass-rushing teams. Aaron Donald and the Rams will pull off the upset in a defensive slug fest.

Final Score: Los Angeles Rams 24, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 18
