Week 10 Fantasy Football Busts

Russell Wilson Fantasy Bust

Choosing the players who will succeed and benching the ones who will not is essential to winning in fantasy football. Each week, fantasy owners will have to make the tough decision to put a player they like on the bench because the truth is that player is a bust. The willingness to do so is what separates good managers from bad ones. Let’s take a look at five players who could bust in Week 10.

Russell Wilson – QB, Seattle Seahawks (vs GB)

Wilson is expected to make his return from injury this week after being out since Week 5. Some fantasy managers are anticipating a big game, but they should be cautious starting him. He averaged 19.7 fantasy points per game in the five he played, but he may not put up big numbers this week. If the Seahawks have a more reserved game plan for Wilson or he shows signs of rust he could have a poor week regarding fantasy football. Additionally, the Seahawks are facing a Green Bay Packers defense that has allowed the ninth-least fantasy points to quarterbacks they have faced this season.

James Conner – RB, Arizona Cardinals (vs CAR)

Chase Edmonds went down last week to an ankle injury and is now on injured reserve leaving Conner as the main back in the Cardinals backfield. Last week, Conner had a monster week putting up 40.3 fantasy points after scoring three touchdowns. However, this week the Cardinals are playing against a tough Carolina Panthers defense who have allowed the fourth least fantasy points to opposing running backs. Eno Benjamin could also cut into the work Connor sees making him a risky start this week.

Adam Thielen – WR, Minnesota Vikings (vs LAC)

Thielen has been a good wide receiver for fantasy football this year averaging 16.9 fantasy points per game so far. However, he has also been inconsistent with three weeks under ten fantasy points this year. In Week 10, the Vikings are facing the Los Angeles Chargers who have been excellent against opposing wide receivers. They have allowed the second least fantasy points to opposing wide receivers through nine weeks. Even though the Chargers have faced injuries to their defense, it has not stopped them from being extremely successful against the pass making them a tough matchup for Thielen.

Tyler Lockett – WR, Seattle Seahawks (vs GB)

Lockett’s value is back on the rise as Wilson is back from injury, but fantasy owners should be cautious starting him this week. Although he was successful when Wilson was healthy, Lockett was inconsistent and if Wilson shows signs of rust, Lockett (for fantasy purposes) could be in trouble. Additionally, the Packers have been good against the pass, holding wide receivers they have faced to the sixth least points in the league.

George Kittle – TE, San Francisco 49ers (vs LAR)

Kittle was excellent in his return from injury last week scoring 20.1 fantasy points. However, this week, managers who start him may be disappointed. The 49ers are playing a Los Angeles Rams defense that is excellent, and to mention adding in Von Miller to the fold. They sit around the middle of the league against tight ends in regard to fantasy points, but if Kittle does not find the end zone, he could be in line for a mediocre game against a good Rams defense.
