The Buffalo Bills came into this year as the favorites in a new AFC East. They were expected to make easy work of the New York Jets with their defense and did just that and the offense helped immensely as well.
Josh Allen threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a rushing touchdown, in Buffalo’s 27-17 victory. The addition of Stefon Diggs was a big help to Allen, as he caught eight passes for 86 yards. The duo of Diggs and John Brown should be one to watch this year. Brown had six catches for 70 yards and a touchdown as well. Buffalo’s defense lost Matt Milano and Tremaine Edmunds due to injuries but still throttled Sam Darnold and the Jet offense. Jordan Poyer stripped Chris Herndon of a catch which put the game away before it very well started.
The Jets were awful offensively. They totaled 23 yards on their first five offensive possessions and were trailing by 21 midway through the second quarter. Darnold finished 21-of-35 for 215 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. The only bright spot of the offense for the Jets would be Jamison Crowder who finished with seven catches for 117 yards and a 69-yard touchdown. New York lost two starters in the game including Le’Veon Bell. Bell injured his hamstring and linebacker, Blake Cashman injured his groin.

Buffalo looked to be one of the best teams this year and they showed why in Week 1. The Jets looked like well, the Jets. Buffalo will get another divisional match when they travel to Miami next week and New York will look for success against the 49ers. These teams will play again in Week 7.
