The New York Giants made the decision to bench Eli Manning this past week, handing the reins to rookie Daniel Jones. Jones made his debut as a starter Sunday, and while Manning was on the bench likely contemplating his future in football, the rookie was putting points on the board to keep his team in the game against Tampa Bay.
It wasn’t a passing touchdown; rather, Jones picked up the score by rushing seven yards to the right.

Jones, a Duke product, was taken by the Giants with the sixth pick in the first round of the 2019 draft. He appeared in all four of the Giants’ preseason games, completing 29 passes for 416 yards and two touchdowns. He was sacked twice but has yet to be picked off as a professional.
