We are almost there! The 2021 NFL season kicks off in exactly two months from today. Training camp kicks off at the end of the month, meaning the preseason isn’t far behind. While the Washington Football Team aren’t the favorites to win the NFC East division entering camp, they will be a force to deal with this season. As the regular season draws closer, several questions need answering. Let’s take a look at a few of them.

Seven Wide Receivers Make the Final Roster?
True. While Washington only kept five wide receivers on their final 53 man roster to start the year last season, the talent and depth is much deeper this year. Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, and Dyami Brown are locks to make the final roster. However, currently, there are nine other receivers on the roster. Of the other six, the two most likely to make the final roster are Antonio Gandy-Golden and Dax Milne. That leaves two spots up for grabs between Kelvin Harmon, Adam Humphries, Isaiah Wright, and Cam Sims. Of the four, Humphries and Harmon seem to have an uphill fight to make the team. In the end, the depth at wide receiver is much better than last year, so expect Washington to hold onto as many receivers as possible.

A Jonathan Allen Extension Must be Done Before Camp?
False. Ideally, the extension gets worked out before camp, but expect negotiations to continue until the start of the regular season. Even if a deal isn’t worked out before Week 1, the team can pick up talks after the season till Allen becomes a free agent in March. Furthermore, if the team and Allen can’t come to a long-term deal, Washington can use the franchise tag. However, both sides want to get a deal done and keep Allen in Washington for the foreseeable future; expect a deal to get done before Week 1.
Jamin Davis will Win Defensive Rookie of the Year?
True. Last season, Chase Young won the award, making it the first time in franchise history that a player won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. However, Davis has a real shot at making it two in a row. While only one linebacker has won the award since 2012, Davis will likely led all rookies in snaps played, tackles, and tackles for a loss. Washington used their 19th overall pick in the draft on Davis, acknowledging they had a massive hole at the linebacker position. With his ability to play all three downs while making plays in the run and passing, Davis has a real shot at winning the award.
Landon Collins will Make the Final 53 man Roster?
True. Despite the reports that Collins will be forced to move to linebacker or face being released, his roster spot is secured. While Collins’ role may look dramatically different this year after Kamren Curl’s breakout rookie season, Collins will still play in most three safety situations. Furthermore, while Collins likely won’t be forced into a full-time linebacker role, expect him to play some snaps as a dime linebacker. Unless Collins isn’t 100 percent healthy, expect him in the Week 1 lineup.
