The last time the Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors faced off, the Heat beat the Warriors thanks to a Dwyane Wade buzzer-beating three-pointer. This time there were no late-game theatrics. After the Warriors trimmed the Heat’s lead to six in the third period, the Heat regrouped in the final period and ended the game with a 122-105 win. The victory moves the Heat season record to 13-5.
Here are my takeaways from Friday’s win.
Limiting Turnovers
A major Heat concern this season has been their sloppiness with the ball. The Heat entered the game averaging a league-worst 21.6 turnovers per game. It was great seeing the Heat take care of the ball and limiting their turnovers against the Warriors.
The Heat committed only five turnovers in the first half. Only one of those turnovers happened in the first period, on a Meyers Leonard travel call. Miami ended the game with 15 turnovers.
Bench Boost
The Heat’s bench has been a strength of the team so far this season. Miami has the third-highest scoring bench in the entire league. And they proved it again on Friday.

The Heat reserves chipped in a season-high 70 points in the game, which was 18 points more than the starters had. Leading the way was Heat guard Goran Dragic, who had a game-high 20 points off the bench.
Dion’s Suspension Over
With Friday’s game concluded, Dion Waiters is no longer suspended. The Heat guard served a ten-game suspension for ” conduct detrimental to the team”. He’s now available to play for the team.
Waiters’ role with the team remains in question. The Heat’s two rookies have played very well and Robinson’s shooting has become essential for the team’s success. It’ll be interesting to see what the team’s plan for Waiters is going forward.
