In most fantasy football leagues, we’re over halfway to the playoffs. So, depending on your record, you’re either looking forward to the playoffs or you’re fighting to get in. If it’s the former, congratulations, if not, let’s get to work. The wire has one screaming candidate, but for the most part, it’s fairly slim pickings. As always, make sure to check for players who are more owned first.
Chase Edmonds (48%)
Just barely making the 50% cut-off mark is the RB1 from week seven, Edmonds. For David Johnson owners, I hope you already owned Edmonds. If not, spend that FAAB. Edmonds is coming off a 27-126-3 day on the ground, 30+ points in any format. He’s going to be 70% plus owned next week.
Ty Johnson (2%)
His running mate in Detroit, Kerryon Johnson, is banged up. Ty handled 14 looks in Kerryon’s absence, totaling 57 yards. He’s in line to play more snaps (he was in on 71% of snaps after Kerryon left the game), and the offense has scored 22+ in five of the past six games. I want shares in Detroit, and Johnson is a nice pick-up.
Darrell Henderson (31%)
Henderson is the new handcuff in L.A. behind Todd Gurley. With Malcolm Brown out and Gurley often injured, Henderson is in a spot to make a statement in the fantasy playoffs. He only had 11 carries last week, and mostly in garbage time, but he’s worth the roster spot, especially as one of the more hyped players coming out of college. For the patient owners who drafted and have held Henderson, the time is near.
O.J. Howard (55%)
I expect Howard’s ownership to jump back up after the bye week, but I also think there’s a strong chance he’s traded before the deadline. Maybe to the Patriots? #TotalSpeculation (but not really… there are swirling rumors even after trading For Mohamed Sanu).
Sam Darnold (34%)
Yes, I get it. Darnold just laid an egg against the Patriots, at home, in a game that fantasy twitter was all in on at -10. But his schedule lightens up considerably. In his next seven games, he gets the Dolphins (twice), Redskins, Raiders, Bengals, and Giants, plus the Jalen Ramsey-less Jaguars.
Cam Newton (44%), Auden Tate (38%), Derrius Guice (30%), Chris Herndon (29%) and Alexander Mattison (25%) are a few other guys I’m targeting. I don’t have great stats on any of them – I just am picking them up.
That’s all I have for you – it’s not the best week for the wire, I’d be saving that FAAB in most cases. If you have a question on who to add/drop in your league, hit me up on the Twitter machine.
