Waiver Wire Candidates for Week 6

What a barren, desolate landscape we have on the waiver wire. As is the case in most seasons, the middle of the season has far fewer options available. Honestly, I’m holding put in most leagues, but if you’re looking for help, here are a few options on the wire for you to consider.

Players under 50% Owned in Yahoo Leagues

Gardner Minshew (24%)

Only three quarterbacks have scored 16+ fantasy points in every game this season, and Minshew is one of them. Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray are the others if you were wondering. He is fun to watch, and he’s not afraid to sling it around the field.

Chris Herndon (29%)

Back from his suspension, Herndon is worth a look in all formats. The young tight end played particularly well with Darnold last season, so grab him now before he gets targeted in his first game back.

Chase Edmonds (3%)

Edmonds is a David Johnson injury away from a prime role in an offense on the rise. Johnson had a tough hit near the end of the game this week, and reports have said that his back has tightened up. I’m not saying Johnson doesn’t play, or that Edmonds is the next big thing, but he’s worth a stash, especially as a handcuff for Johnson owners.

Preston Williams (8%)

Williams was off last week, so he’s likely not on the radar for your league mates. However, don’t miss out! He’s seen 23 targets in the last three games with Josh Rosen under center, and he leads the team in receptions and yards on the season.

Other Running Back Stashes if you have the depth:

1. Alexander Mattison

2. Malcolm Brown

3. Devin Singletary

4. Tony Pollard

5. Jaylen Samuels

Check the Transaction Wire

However, now is the time of year to look for players that are being dropped by owners with deep teams. Guys like D.J. Moore, Baker Mayfield, Matt Breida, Sterling Shepard and more are going to be available in some leagues. Check the “recent activity / transactions” section on your app on Wednesday morning and look to make some claims on the waiver wire scraps. You’d be surprised at who’s been dropped.

Again, the pickings are thin… but this is the time of year to capitalize on the mistakes of your fellow league mates.
