Tyler Herro studies Ray Allen and Klay Thompson to improve shooting

It’s almost been four months since the NBA players appeared in a game. With no access to facilities, players had to be more creative with working on their craft. Some, like Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro, have used this time off to their advantage.  Herro has been studying two of the best shooters in NBA history.

“Just as Duncan Robinson offered up previously, Tyler Herro followed up by acknowledging that his downtime included studying the catch-and-shoot stylings of former Heat guard Ray Allen and current Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson,” Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel wrote.

The Heat rookie added that he’s looking at one specific part of Thompson’s and Allen’s games.

“You know, Klay and Ray, they do the catch-and-shoot very well,” Herro said. “So that’s the thing that I pay attention to when I’m watching them. But every player that I watch, or the coaches have me watch, I can dissect something new or something different from their game to try to add it to mine.”

Herro is already a good three-point shooter, converting nearly 40 percent this season.  His lethal three-point shooting has helped improved the Heat’s offense. Because of this, the Heat have emerged as contenders in the East. Herro will continue to play a huge role for the Heat when the season restarts.

The Heat will resume regular season play on Aug 1.  They’re also expected to play in a couple of scrimmage games before then. After months of rest and watching film, we’ll see what Herro has learned from two of the greatest shooters in league history.
