Top Four NBA Rookies This Season

Nick Andre | May 9th, 2020

This season’s rookie draft class has been spectacular, to say the least. All of the highlight-reel plays and success that these young men have had so far, it’s no question that they are on a mission to make noise in the NBA and are setting the tone early for their careers. Let’s take a look at some of the top 4 rookies that have been spectacular this season.

4) RJ Barrett, New York Knicks

Although New York has been the laughingstock franchise in the NBA, Barrett has had a solid first season on the Knicks roster. He has shown that he can be versatile on the floor and be a team player providing contributions for others. Barrett’s averages revolve around 14.3 points per game and five rebounds on the season. His shooting numbers can improve as his career. But with his hard work and tenacity, he will continue to improve from that perspective.

3) Coby White, Chicago Bulls

White has strong production off the bench for Chicago. He’s had big moments and has come away with many clutch moments. White averaged 13.2 points and shot 39% from the field. When he is locked in he has the potential to be one of the best shooters in the NBA. Hopefully, White can start alongside Zach LaVine soon in Chicago. Both players have the possibility of becoming a dynamic backcourt based on their style.

2) Zion Williamson, New Orleans Pelicans

We weren’t sure if Zion would see the NBA floor this season. But as he made his debut on January 22, he was must-watch. Zion averaged 23.6 points and 6.8 rebounds. His presence was big for New Orleans as they shifted from the 12 seed in the West to the 9th seed. Once the season returns, Zion will continue to lead this team to fight for a playoff position. And if they end up sliding in, the Rookie of The Year Award May go to the top pick.

1) Ja Morant, Memphis Grizzlies

Morant has shocked the world this season for Memphis. With his phenomenal talent and dog mentality, he has taken this Memphis franchise to higher standards than expected. Memphis sits in the eighth seed, looking to keep it secured by the end of the regular season. And with Ja’s play throughout the season, they just might keep their playoff hopes alive once the NBA returns. Even though Zion has come along to compete for that ROY award, Morant continues to show everyone the award is truly his. No rookie has been more exciting to watch than Morant all season, and we cannot wait to see his development throughout the years.

These young men have the green light to have an illustrious NBA career. They will continue to adjust to the NBA level and take off from this season moving forward. All four of these players will blossom into an NBA All-Star when their time comes.
