Top Fantasy Streamers for Week 9

Derek Carr

Week 8 is officially in the books! Were your teams able to stave off the injury bug? Whether you need an injury replacement or want an upgrade over your current starter, here is a list of streamers with favorable matchups in Week 9.

The following players are owned in less than 50 percent of Yahoo Leagues.

Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Carolina Panthers

Bridgewater makes this list for the third week in a row. He’s set to face the Kansas City Chiefs, where he will need to throw 30-plus times to keep up with Patrick Mahomes. It’s a tough matchup on paper as Kansas City’s defense is giving up the ninth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks, but the potential negative game script gives Bridgewater a high floor. His floor would receive an enormous boost if Christian McCaffrey returns this week.

Derek Carr, QB, Las Vegas Raiders

Carr has been consistently putting up top-20 fantasy numbers this season at the quarterback position. He’s thrown 14 touchdowns versus just two interceptions. This week, he travels to Los Angeles to take on a Chargers defense that’s given up the seventh-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. With Justin Herbert throwing three touchdown passes in four consecutive games (tied for the rookie record), expect Carr to have to throw a lot in this game to keep up with the surging rookie.

Daniel Jones, QB, New York Giants

The last time Jones played Washington, he ran for a season-high 74 yards on seven attempts. He’s starting to find his groove as a passer averaging two touchdowns over the past two games. His rushing ability always gives him a decent floor, but if he continues to progress as a passer, he could sneak into the top-20 at his position this week.

Eric Ebron, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers

Over the past two weeks, Ebron has turned 13 targets into 10 catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. This week, he faces a Dallas Cowboys defense giving up the ninth-most fantasy points to tight ends. Ebron is moving dangerously close to must-start territory. He will continue to make this list as long as he’s owned in under 50 percent of Yahoo Leagues.

Logan Thomas, TE, Washington Football Team

Thomas is averaging 5.7 targets this season, which is good for 12th in the NFL amongst all tight ends. In the two games before Washington’s Week 8 bye, Thomas had seven catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns. He was the top streaming option in Week 7, and he remains a top-streaming option going up against the New York Giants this week. He should post low-end TE1 numbers this week, operating as Washington’s no. 2 pass catcher.

Trey Burton, TE, Indianapolis Colts

Burton has averaged five targets per game since making his season debut back in Week 4. He has quickly emerged as the Colts’ number one tight end over teammates Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox. This week, he faces a Baltimore defense that just gave up 48 yards and a touchdown to Ebron in Week 8. Burton should be a reliable safety blanket for Philip Rivers, giving him a TE2 floor with room for more.

Houston Texans, DST

Houston’s defense has done very little up to this point, but that should change this week. With sixth-round rookie Jake Luton expected to make his first career start this week for Gardner Minshew (thumb), the Texans’ defense is in a prime spot to produce useful fantasy numbers. Expect the Texans to force multiple turnovers while keeping the Jaguars’ score to a minimum.

Arizona Cardinals, DST

Arizona has an excellent Week 9 matchup going up against rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Tagovailoa didn’t do much in his first career start last week, completing 12-22 on his passes, a 58.3 completion percentage, throwing for only 93 yards and a touchdown. The Dolphins’ defense and special teams covered up Tagovailoa’s lackluster performance. Expect Tagovailoa to make plenty of mistakes trying to keep up with the high-flying Cardinals offense.

Washington Football Team, DST

Washington hosts a Giants team giving up the fifth-most fantasy points to defenses this season. Washington’s defense boasts a top-15 floor this week going up against a Giants offense giving up 2.9 sacks and 1.9 turnovers per game.

Zane Gonzalez, K, Arizona Cardinals

Gonzalez should be universally owned kicking for one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL. He’s averaging 8.1 fantasy points per game this season. Expect Murray and the Cardinals offense to move the ball with ease this week against the Dolphins, giving Gonzalez multiple scoring opportunities.

Succop has been one of the most consistent kickers this season, averaging 8.6 fantasy points per game. He has scored 7-plus fantasy points in seven-of-eight games this season. With Drew Brees coming into town, expect Tom Brady to give his kicker multiple scoring chances as they try to keep up with the New Orleans Saints’ explosive offense.
