While the Titans have high priorities in regards to re-signing on the offensive side of the ball. Derrick Henry, Ryan Tannehill and Jack Conklin in all estimates are the top three. But Tennessee also has decisions to make on the defensive side of the ball as well. There are likely to be some big names to try and woo to Music City.
Logan Ryan – Titans
Resigning Ryan should be a high priority defensively. He has been a solid piece in their secondary. He may take a hometown discount to stay and build on what the defense has and can become. They may also opt to franchise tag him.
Matt Judon – Ravens
He would be a nice addition to the Titans defense and their pass rush. His price tag may be too rich for the Titans to have a shot.
Jadeveon Clowney – Seahawks
Another richer asking price by all early estimations. He has proved to be all in for his team. He played the latter half of last season with an injury, which would have sidelined most, and still had an impact. His injury history may knock his price down to a range that the Titans can add him to their pass rush next season.
Shaquil Barrett – Buccaneers
To add him opposite Harold Landry would be a major upgrade immediately. If his asking price is right Tennessee will be sure to join the negotiations.
Shaq Lawson – Bills
This would not only upgrade the defense, but he would face the Jaguars twice a season. He and Jacksonville’s running back Leonard Fournette have had bad blood, including fights and suspensions. That alone makes him enticing.
Ndamukong Suh – Buccaneers
As a veteran, his price tag may be right in the Titans wheelhouse. In Tampa Bay last season he had a solid impact for their defensive front. Except for the signing of Cameron Wake last season, Tennessee usually steers clear of older veterans.
Chris Harris – Broncos
This hinges on Logan Ryan. If he resigns in Nashville, Harris may be out of the question financially. But if the Titans lose Ryan, Harris could top the list as his replacement.
Leonard Williams – Giants
Another guy that could command a bigger contract. But he may be towards the top of their secret wishlist. Along with Jurrell Casey and Jeffery Simmons, Williams would make the defensive front one of the best in the league.
Bud Dupree – Steelers
In Pittsburgh Dupree quite often made the highlight reel for his tackling and his ability to run down backs out of the backfield. He just screams Mike Vrabel guy. Unfortunately, he may be another guy that proves to be too costly.
Chris Jones – Chiefs
Similar to Williams, Jones would make this defensive front one of the best in the league. His price tag could be on the brink of unaffordable for the Titans when all the other holes are addressed.
Yannick Ngakoue (Jaguars), Jordan Phillips (Bills), Vic Beasley (Falcons) are a few other names that the Titans could entertain. Josh Norman was released by the Redskins, the team announced on Friday morning. And there are rumors that the Jaguars will release A.J. Bouye. Bouye would definitely be a great addition to the secondary, whether they resign Logan Ryan or not.
We’ll have to wait and see if any of these guys end up in Tennessee. Once the big questions on offense are answered they will see what they have left financially to pursue one or two of these gentlemen.
