Chris Tierney played his final game of the 2018 season for the New England Revolution on Wednesday.

The club announced Friday that they placed the veteran left back on the Season Ending Injury List due to a torn right anterior cruciate ligament. Tierney suffered the non-contact injury in the 43rd minute of Wednesday’s clash against Atlanta United.

The 32-year-old, who is in his 11th season in the MLS, will undergo surgery within the next few weeks and will be out for nine months—ending his season. Tierney is the longest-tenured player on the Revolution roster and ranks third in appearances in club history.

In Tierney’s absence, Gabriel Somi and possibly Kelyn Rowe will fill in for him on the left side of the defense.

The Revolution next face off against the New York Red Bulls on June 2 in Foxboro at 7:30 p.m.
