Thursday Night Football Week 8 DFS

This game does not seem very interesting just based on each team’s record. The Minnesota Vikings are 5-2 and the Washington Redskins are 1-6. However, this is a revenge game for Vikings starting quarterback Kirk Cousins. He faces his former team where he played for six seasons. It is also a revenge game for Adrian Peterson as he faces the Vikings where he played for ten seasons. Here are my top players in this NFC matchup.

DraftKings Captain

Olabisi Johnson (9,300 DK Captain, 6,200 DK, and 10,000 FD)

Last week Johnson saw eight targets after Adam Thielen went down because of an injury. Thielen has been ruled out so Johnson will be the number two receiver. The Redskins will look to stop Stefon Diggs allowing Johnson to be a great value.

FanDuel MVP

Kirk Cousins (12,000 DK and 15,000 FD)

Cousins is starting to heat up at quarterback. He has thrown for over 300 yards in three straight games. He gets a matchup against his former team in the Redskins. This is a revenge game for him even though he has publicly said it is not. He’s going to want to show the Redskins why they should have given him a long term contract. He should be able to do just that against this Redskins pass defense that has allowed 236 passing yards per game.

Flex Players

Alexander Mattison (4,400 DK and 8,000 FD)

This game is going to be ugly. The Redskins will have a tough time moving the ball and scoring on the Vikings defense. If the Vikings are able to put up points early look for Mattison to get extra snaps in this game. Mattison should be low owned and is a great option for GPP tournaments.

Dalvin Cook (13,000 DK and 15,500 FD)

Cook has averaged 5.5 yards per carry this year. He has been a top-three running back all year. That should continue in this game against a Redskins defense that has allowed 134.4 rushing yards per game.

Wendell Smallwood (1,800 DK and 5,000 FD)

I don’t really like many Redskins players in this game. Chris Thompson has been ruled out for this game. That makes Smallwood in line to be the change of pace back behind Peterson. The Redskins should abandon the run pretty quick allowing Smallwood to be heavily involved in the passing attack.

Game Predictions

The Vikings led by Cousins start the game off strong. Cousins throws a couple of touchdowns in the first quarter putting them up 14-0. They start to get the running backs involved more as they just physically start to wear the Redskins out. The Redskins finally score a couple of touchdowns late and the Vikings win the football game 38-14.

Player Predictions

Cousins: 312 passing yards and three touchdowns.

Mattison: 16 carries for 72 yards and one touchdown.

Cook: 23 carries for 134 yards and one touchdown.

Johnson: Six receptions for 74 yards and one touchdown.

Smallwood: 82 total yards and one touchdown.
