Thursday Night Football Week 5 DFS

Brandon Braasch | October 3rd, 2019

Last week’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers was one of the best games all year. This week, we get the Los Angeles Rams verse the Seattle Seahawks. This could be a high scoring game or a low scoring defensive battle. I am guessing a high scoring back and forth game. Here are my picks for the best players in tonight’s game.

FanDuel MVP

Russell Wilson (10,600 DK and 15,000 FD)

Wilson has been a top quarterback all year. He has already thrown for 1,141 yards and eight touchdowns this year. He faces a Rams defense that just gave up 385 yards and four touchdowns to Jameis Winston. Wilson also threw for three touchdowns in each of the two games against the Rams last year. He will keep that going this week and provide great value in your MVP slot.

DraftKings Captain

Rashaad Penny (7,500 DK Captain, 5,000 DK, and 7,500 FD)

Penny has been banged up this year but when he gets his carries, he has been good. Last year verse the Rams in a game when Chris Carson did not play, Penny ran for 108 yards and a touchdown. Carson is going to play Thursday night but Penny should still get some touches. If Penny can continue to turn these touches into some big gains and potentially a touchdown, he will give you great value, especially in the captain slot.

Flex Plays

Cooper Kupp (9,600 DK and 13,000 FD)

Kupp has been Jared Goff‘s most reliable target all year. He has scored at least one touchdown in the last two games. If Goff struggles, Kupp will still be able to get receptions and yards. Look for him to get solid double-digit points, with a chance for 20+ points if he can find the end zone.

Todd Gurley (8,800 DK and 11,500 FD)

Last week, Gurley only saw five carries. That was because they were down early but it is still tough to give you superstar running back that little amount of carries. They should get the running attack back going this week. Gurley has shredded the Seahawks in previous years. In his past four games against the Seahawks, he ran for 392 yards and seven touchdowns. I know he has not seen the volume of carries this year. However, he will still get his fantasy points.

Other Targets: Tyler Lockett (9,400 DK and 11,000 FD) and Greg Zuerlein (3,400 DK and 9,500 FD)

Players to Avoid

Jared Goff (10,200 DK and 14,500 FD)

Goff has struggled away from home all year. He has not been bad verse the Seahawks in the past but he has had some very average games. At his salary, I would stay away from him and pick the other stars in this game.

Jason Myers (3,600 DK and 8,500 FD)

Typically I like picking kickers for showdown contests. If you are going to pick one go with Zuerlein. Myers has only attempted three field goals through four games. He has only made one and I would not rely on him to kick many in this game.

Game Predictions

This is going to be a high scoring game. The Seahawks and more specifically Wilson have been on fire. The Rams struggled last week but still put up points. Look for Wilson to keep this offense moving and the Rams to try to bounce back from last week’s tough loss. Final score 33-27 Seahawks win in another crazy Thursday Night game.
