Thursday Night Football Week 4 DFS

Brandon Braasch | September 26th, 2019

Not many people expected the Philadelphia Eagles to be 1-2 coming into this game. The Green Bay Packers have been playing good football and it does not look good for the Eagles. The Eagles have already been struggling with injuries and now they have to play on short rest. The Packers defense has been good this year but I would bet the over on the total score. These teams can put up points and put them up fast. Let’s take a look at who the best DFS players are in this potentially high scoring Thursday Night matchup.

MVP/Captain

Zach Ertz (13,800 DK Captain, 9,200 DK, and 11,500 FD)

Ertz has underperformed this year. He only has 17 catches for 190 yards. With no touchdowns and what’s on paper, looks like a bad matchup. Most people will think about staying away from him. This will be the game he finally breaks out. He is facing a defense that has been good vs tight ends. However, which tight ends did the Packers face? They faced a backup in Adam Shaheen, a struggling Kyle Rudolph, and a rookie Noah Fant. These guys do not even compare to the tight end Ertz is. Look for Ertz and Carson Wentz to finally connect and put up big numbers.

Flex Players

Aaron Jones (9,000 DK and 13,000 FD)

The Eagles have stopped the run well this year. However, Jones ran all over a really good Vikings defense earlier this year. The Packers have been looking to run the ball to start the year off, so Jones will get plenty of carriers and touchdown opportunities. I think the Packers will be leading at halftime and Jones will start to do some real damage in the second half of this game.

Miles Sanders (6,200 DK and 10,000 FD)

The Packers defense has been really good this year. They have struggled against the run, however. Dalvin Cook was able to run for 154 yards and one touchdown. Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay ran for a combined 144 yards and two touchdowns. With the Eagles struggling because of injuries, they will try and establish the run game. Sanders can also be a factor in the passing game. He has six catches for 84 yards this year and if the Eagles get down, he might be able to rack up some yards on a couple of screen passes.

Carson Wentz (10,000 DK and 14,500 FD)

Wentz has put up good fantasy numbers all year. That will continue this week. With Alshon Jeffery likely to play, he will finally get his top weapon back. Wentz is going to have to be on top of his game against the Packers defense, which has been among the best in football. Look for Wentz to put up big numbers in the second half as they try and mount a comeback.

Davante Adams (11,000 DK and 14,000 FD)

Adams and Aaron Rodgers have not had to be the main focus on offense this year. This is because they actually have a good defense and have been running the football more. This will continue in this game but I think Adams finally breaks through and has a big game. Adams is among the best route runners in the NFL and I find it hard to believe that he doesn’t reach the end zone for a fourth straight week.

Jimmy Graham (4,400 DK and 6,500 FD)

You have to save some money somewhere with all of these high priced stars. Graham has not done anything since his touchdown against the Chicago Bears. Rodgers said he wanted to get Graham more involved. Look for that to happen this week and hopefully, he can get into the end zone.

Game Predictions

The crowd is going to be too much for the Eagles to start the game off. The Packers are going to put up points fast and look to run the ball and play defense. The Eagles are not able to overcome a halftime deficit, but Ertz and Wentz will put up a lot of fantasy points. The final score will be 31-24, Packers holding off the Eagles late.
