Thursday Night Football Week 2 DFS

Week one is complete and it definitely did not disappoint. Week two gets started with a divisional battle between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs the Carolina Panthers. This game will not be anything like last week’s offensive snooze fest. In fact, there will be more scoring in the first half, maybe even the first quarter than all of last week’s game. Let’s take a look at this week’s DFS matchups on FanDuel and DraftKings.

FanDuel MVP Slot

Cam Newton (15,000 FD, 11,000 DK, and 16,500 DK Captain)

Newton had a rough game in terms of fantasy last week. However, minus his turnovers, he didn’t have that bad of a game. He still passed for 239 yards, completing 66 percent of his passes. Look for him to bounce back and find the end zone a few times this week as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will look to focus on Christian McCaffrey in the red zone.

DraftKings Captain

D.J. Moore (12,000 FD and DK Captain and 8,000 DK)

I like Moore in the DraftKings Captain spot because he’s a lot cheaper than Newton. This will allow you to save money and still get great value at the Captain slot. Moore is going to get his catches. He proved that last week when he got seven catches for 76 yards. He is a safe play while also providing big numbers potential.

Flex Players

Curtis Samuel (10,000 FD and 7,000 DK)

Samuel has that big play ability. There were many times in training camp that Newton and Samuel connected on the big play. He’s a boom or bust but if he does boom he can put up some game changing numbers.

Panthers DST (4,200 DK only)

Jameis Winston is still the same player he was coming into the league. He will get you some points but will also turnover the football. The Panthers’ defense is still not as good as it was in 2015. They do, however, still have Luke Kuechly and a playmaker in the secondary, Donte Jackson. With a revenge game for Gerald McCoy as well, I really like the Panthers’ defense to force some turnovers and rack up the sacks.

Matt Gay (8,500 FD, and 3,200 DK)

The Panthers showed last week that there defense will allow you to move the football down the field. The Buccaneers don’t have the skill set to score touchdowns in the red zone like the Los Angeles Rams were able to in week one. This will force them to kick field goals, allowing Gay to get double digit points.

Chris Godwin (12,500 FD and 8,600 DK)

The Buccaneers are gonna end up throwing the ball 35+ times in this game. Wether it’s a back and forth shootout or they are down early and playing from behind, Godwin will at the very least be able to rack up some garbage time points.

Game Predictions

The Panthers are gonna start off hot and get rolling right away. They will have their way with this Buccaneers defense and get a double digit lead by halftime. The Panthers will be able to put the game away in the second half. However, in the fourth quarter, the Buccaneers will make the game seem closer on the scoreboard than it actually was. The final score will be 34-23.
