Welcome to today’s Daily Dunk where we recap all of college basketball’s biggest games from yesterday and give you a look at the matchups to watch later today!
Yesterday’s Biggest Games
St. John’s 68 vs. Seton Hall 77
In the first conference game of the season for both teams, Seton Hall showed that they can be a force in the Big East this year. Sandro Mamukelashvili put the Pirates on his back, as he put up 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
On the other hand, Julian Champagnie had another great game for the Red Storm, as the sophomore scored 24 points, which was double the amount of points of the second-best scorer on his team yesterday, Greg Williams Jr.
The Johnnies fall to 5-2 with their next matchup against Georgetown on Sunday. Seton Hall got back over .500 with the victory and plays Marquette on the 17th.
Nebraska 74 vs. #8 Creighton 98
The Creighton Bluejays definitely showed why they are a top-10 college basketball team right now in their blowout win over Nebraska. Marcus Zegarowski (22 points) and Denzel Mahoney (20 points) combined for 42 points and nine assists.
The problem for Nebraska last night was the turnovers. They gave Creighton the ball 25 times (38 points off of those turnovers) compared to the Bluejays only turning the ball over 13 times.
Creighton improved to 4-1 and has a date with Marquette coming up next Monday.
#9 Villanova 76 vs. Georgetown 63
Villanova got their first conference win of the season over the Hoyas and Collin Gillespie was in the middle of the action yet again, scoring 18 points with six assists and four rebounds.
The Wildcats are scheduled to play Butler at home on Wednesday after their game against DePaul was postponed.
Games to Watch Today
