There was only one AP Top 25 matchup on Sunday, as #14 Texas Tech and #17 Houston met, and it had some importance to the new AP rankings after another top-10 team fell. We’ll recap yesterday and get you ready for tonight’s big games.
Welcome to today’s Daily Dunk where we recap all of college basketball’s biggest games from yesterday and give you a look at the matchups to watch later today!

Yesterday’s Biggest Games
UPSET ALERT: Richmond 76 vs. #10 Kentucky 64
Kentucky heads to Kansas to play the Jayhawks in the State Farm Champions Classic on Tuesday but first, they played the Richmond Spiders and it didn’t end well. Chris Mooney‘s team outscored Kentucky by 16 points in the second half and that ended up being the difference in their ten-point win. Nathan Cayo and Blake Francis both scored 18 points and was helped out by the Wildcats’ turnover issue. Kentucky turned the ball over 21 times–11 more than Richmond–and it’s hard to win a game against a good team like the Spiders when turnovers are out of control.
Kentucky’s schedule doesn’t get any easier, so perhaps this serves as a learning experience and an early wake-up call ahead of Tuesday.
#17 Houston 64 vs. #14 Texas Tech 53
The only Top 25 matchup on Sunday’s schedule featured the Red Raiders and the Cougars. Houston played like a ranked team in the first half, holding an 18-point lead midway through the first 20 minutes thanks to seven early turnovers by the Red Raiders. These two teams are talented enough to reach the Sweet 16, so this was perhaps a nice preview of things to come. Houston is 3-0 for the second time in the last three seasons.
Washington 52 vs. #2 Baylor 86
Baylor has a big week ahead of them but they had to take care of Washington at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas first, and that’s exactly what they did. Jared Butler led Baylor in points on Sunday with 20, as he was 8-for-12 from the field. While Baylor hasn’t been tested yet just two games into their non-conference schedule, they will be tested this week. The Bears have a date with preseason No. 8 Illinois on Wednesday and play top-ranked Gonzaga in a matchup between the best two teams in the country on Saturday.
Games to Watch Today
#19 Texas vs. Davidson
How to Watch: Monday, November 30, 12:00 PM ET, ESPN2
Texas has only one game on their schedule this week before facing Villanova on Sunday and it’s Stephen Curry‘s alma mater. Davidson is 1-0 after beating High Point by nine points last Wednesday. The Longhorns got a 36-point win in their first game of the season in Austin.
St. John’s vs. Boston College
How to Watch: Monday, November 30, 6:00 PM ET, ESPNU
St. John’s will face their toughest test after getting wins vs St. Peter’s and La Salle at home to start their season. Julian Champagnie sat out the first two games due to an ankle injury and is going to be a game-time decision for Mike Anderson. Vince Cole has been the team’s best player so far, hitting the game-winning three-pointer over St. Peter’s last Wednesday.
Boston College nearly upset Villanova in their season opener, but bounced back by beating Rhode Island 69-64 on Thursday at Mohegan Sun. Daron Russell played all but three minutes and scored a team-leading 23 points against the Rams.
Stanford vs. Alabama
How to Watch: Monday, November 30, 9:30 PM ET, ESPN2
Stanford and Alabama will go head to head on Monday night in the Maui Invitational in Asheville, NC. The Crimson Tide beat Jacksonville State convincingly to start the year 1-0. Stanford has yet to play after their game against Utah Valley was canceled last Wednesday.
