Ohio Gov. Mike Dewine announced in a press conference on Thursday that the Cleveland Indians, as well as other outdoor sporting and entertainment events in Ohio, will be permitted to host the public. Outdoor events will be permitted to host 30 percent capacity while indoor events will be allowed 25 percent capacity.
The Indians sent out a tweet on Thursday welcoming back fans and unveiling new safety guidelines. Tickets will be sold in “pod-style” sections in groups of two-four to ensure social distancing amongst the crowd. In addition to the new seating rules, fans will be required to wear approved face masks at all times unless they are eating or drinking.

The Indians have partnered with the Cleveland Clinic to develop new and safe guidelines for the return of fans into Progressive Field. While these rules are subject to change at any moment, the new guidelines are:
- CDC-recommended masks at all times (no bandanas or neck gaiters.)
- No bags allowed, with the exception of diaper bags, clutch purse, or medical bag.
- Food and drink consumption will only be permitted in ticketed seating/standing areas.
- Gates will open one hour before the first pitch
- Social distancing will be required at all times throughout the park. This includes outside the park waiting to get in.
- No physical tickets will be printed out.
The team has not announced when tickets will go on sale but availability for tickets will be determined on a monthly basis until they are permitted to return to full capacity. The Indians’ first home game will be held on Monday, April 4th against the Kansas City Royals. This will mark the first home game with fans for the Indians since Sept. 22nd, 2019 against the Philidelphia Phillies.
