The Brooklyn Nets grab Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and DeAndre Jordan

Nickolas Loza| July 2nd, 2019

The Brooklyn Nets have undoubtedly won Free Agency, they got Free Agency’s top prize in Small Forward Kevin Durant. They then went out and got the prized point guard of this free agency in Kyrie Irving. They then decided to bolster their big men by getting Center DeAndre Jordan from the Knicks. In this article, I will briefly go over what these moves mean for the future of the Brooklyn Nets.

The Signing of Kevin Durant

The signing of Kevin Durant changes the landscape of the NBA, firstly it changes how the Golden State Warriors work, because now they’re on an even playing field for the first time in three years, and it changes the way the NBA works because now the Warriors are no longer the favorites to win the title every year. But unfortunately for the Nets, the First Team All NBA’er will miss the entirety of next season with a torn Achilles tendon, so they’ll have to wait to get the Kevin Durant experience. When he does come back, it will make the Nets the undoubted favorites in the NBA. He has once again shaken up the NBA landscape, but this time he signed with a team that really needed his talents

The Signing of Kyrie Irving

The signing of Kyrie Irving is an odd one for the Nets, who already had an All-Star Point Guard in DeAngelo Russell. Kyrie is questionable because he is in his prime now but DeAngelo Russell’s ceiling was unknown, so Russell could’ve turned out better than Irving. But nonetheless, the Nets do get one of the top three point guards in the NBA, and for the immediate future, it’s an upgrade. But, we’ll see who won this drop and swap in three years. If Russell blossoms into an All NBA’er soon, then the Nets will regret this, but it’s rumored that Kevin Durant would sign wherever Kyrie Irving signed. So, it’s a win for now.

The Signing of DeAndre Jordan

The signing of DeAndre Jordan brings a good center to the Nets who already have Jarrett Allen, their team leader in Win Shares and Blocks. He brings a veteran presence to their lineup of still developing and young players. He is an outstanding rebounder and blocks a lot of shots, so he will make the Nets a better defensive team and allow them to spread the floor more. He’s a great acquisition for the Nets, and he’s their most forgotten signing unjustifiably.

Concluding Thoughts

In conclusion, the Nets are the team of 2020-2021 to beat, for now, they’ll contend for a top-three spot but probably end up losing to the Sixers, Bucks, or Raptors if Toronto can sign Kawhi Leonard back. This team is scary and loaded for the future.

Hope you all enjoyed!
