The NFL Draft is officially in the rearview mirror. Now it’s full steam ahead towards the impending season, with the schedule release slated for May 12. Here’s the May Edition of Tennessee Titans True or False
Author’s note: This monthly piece will reassess some of the questions from previous installments and new ones will be addressed.
General manager Jon Robinson nailed the Draft?
True. The primary focus of the draft for Tennessee was addressing their need in the secondary and to add much-needed depth at wide receiver. They selected Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley with their first-round pick. They also added cornerback Elijah Molden in the third round and safety Brady Breeze on day three.
While they missed out on Ole Miss receiver Elijah Moore, who Titans’ receiver A.J. Brown was lobbying for heavily on social media. They did add a pair of receivers. Dez Fitzpatrick from Louisville and Racey McMath from LSU were both selected in the sixth round.
The team’s second-round pick at number 53 offensive tackle Dillon Radunz may have been Tennessee’s best selection in the entire draft. As for their fourth-round selection, defensive end Rashad Weaver, he has since been charged with one count of simple assault in connection with an incident that occurred on April 18th.
Derrick Henry will break Eric Dickerson‘s single-season rushing record?
True. The addition of a seventeenth game, combined with the workload Henry is accustomed to, it isn’t a question of if, it’s more of a question of when he passes Dickerson and by how much. As detailed in April’s edition, Henry has been getting ready for the upcoming season pretty much the second last season ended
A.J. Brown will continue his trek to Elite status?
True. It could be argued that the Titans receiver is already in the upper echelon of wide receivers in the NFL. But year three as the number one target for Ryan Tannehill in the passing game, Brown will inch into the conversation of the top receivers in the league, even flirting with the top five.
The Titans will sign an additional veteran free agent?
False. Barring an unforeseen injury or something drastic like an unexpected retirement, the team won’t make any additional signings. Definitely not one that makes major headlines. Given their hesitant free-agent period as a whole, general manager Jon Robinson and head coach Mike Vrabel have the utmost confidence in the team they have.
