Tennessee Titans True or False: July Edition

Titans

The calendar has flipped to July. For fans of the NFL, it is the last month without football until March. With camps becoming more intense as the 2022 season creeps ever closer, veterans are trying to keep their jobs while rookies are attempting to build chemistry with their respective teams. Meanwhile, fantasy football owners are hard at work studying up for upcoming drafts after an offseason that saw many marquee players take their talents elsewhere. This monthly piece will reassess some of the questions from previous installments and new ones will be addressed. It is time for the July edition of the Tennessee Titans “True or False?”.

After his First Impactful Injury, Derrick Henry‘s Best Days are Behind Him?

False. Whether you follow the Titans star running back on social media or not, you’ve probably come across some of his insane workouts. Henry will not falter after his first major injury, like some of the other running backs in the league have, simply because he’s not those other backs. Henry has accepted the team’s weight on his back and, more importantly, his legs.

Like every player the ultimate goal is the Super Bowl, Henry will look to claim the rushing title once again, the crown he won back to back in 2019 and 2020 while last season he finished ninth in rushing despite missing half of the season. Also, he will look to make his case to prove he’s worthy of another big-money contract whether it be to stay in Nashville or elsewhere. Regardless, the King is ready.

In Tannehill They Trust?

True. While this is a tough one, the organization, at least for now and at face value, is committed to start the season with Ryan Tannehill as their quarterback. The team drafted Malik Willis in the third round of the draft, and we’re exploring other options as signal-caller as well as in the offseason. Other than the bad showing in the home playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, Tannehill has consistently been among the top-15 quarterbacks since taking over for Marcus Mariota in 2019. He led his team to the division title and the playoffs despite all the injuries the team was dealt, none bigger than Henry missing half the season and the Titans all but being written off after the extent of his injury was disclosed.

There will be an Under the Radar Addition?

True. A few names are still on the free agent market. The Titans could make a signing to add a veteran presence to their receiving corps. Julio Jones and Odell Beckham Jr. are two names on the top of that list. Defensively the Titans showed how stifling their defensive front could be. There are a few guys that could make it even better, starting with Ndamukong Suh. But the Titans will likely be more than a little hesitant to make a move given the way the addition of edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney in 2020 and the trade for Jones last season didn’t work out in their favor.
