Tennessee Titans True or False: July Edition

Tennessee Titans True or False

The calendar has flipped to July. For fans of the NFL, it is the last month without football until March. With camps getting more intense as the season creeps ever closer, veterans are trying to keep their jobs, and rookies are trying to make their respective teams.

Here’s the June Edition of the Tennessee Titans True or False

Author’s note: This monthly piece will reassess some of the questions from previous installments and new ones will be addressed.

The Julio Jones Trade Catapults Them in the AFC?

True. The Tennessee Titans have made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, for the most part on the legs of the reigning two-time NFL rushing champion, Derrick Henry. Ryan Tannehill has been lights out and as mistake-free as any quarterback in the league. The emergence of A.J. Brown has kept opposing defenses honest, leaving usually one less defender to concentrate on Henry. The one thing that was missing was another vertical threat for Tannehill, that defenses had to respect. Julio Jones is just that piece. Offensively the Titans rival the best handful of teams in the AFC.

There’s Still a Chance They Add a Pro Bowl Tight End?

True. The Titans have been one of the teams in contact with the Philadelphia Eagles in regards to acquiring tight end Zach Ertz. The Eagles have yet to pull the trigger on a deal, since dangling the three-time Pro Bowler as trade bait. Ultimately, they may decide to cut him to free up salary. Titans general manager Jon Robinson is likely keeping close tabs on the situation. Adding Ertz and Jones, and their 10 combined Pro Bowls offensively, in the same offseason would be a move of epic proportions.

They Will Bring Back a Fan Favorite?

False. A season removed from trading five-time Pro Bowl selection Jurrell Casey to the Denver Broncos to free up cap space, he is on the free-agent market. While many fans would love to see No. 99 back on the defensive line next to Jeffery Simmons, it’s not likely. Although Casey was hurt by being blindsided with the trade, he understands the business. His asking price is too steep for the Titans wallet, and unless he’s willing to lower it, he won’t be returning to Nashville.

The Left Tackle Will Return to Form?

True. The three-time Pro Bowl selection and Bussin’ With the Boys co-host, Taylor Lewan tore his ACL in October and missed the rest of the season. All reports are positive that he is on schedule with his recovery and will be ready for the start of the season. He again will be leading the way for Henry and protecting Tannehill’s blindside.
