It is no secret that the Kansas City Royals love drafting pitchers. They have a deep farm system though, and it isn’t all pitching either. In fact, four of the players on this list are hitters.
New York still has a deep system that includes top-30 prospect Francisco Alvarez and three more top-100s in Ronny Mauricio, Brett Baty, and Matt Allan. The Mets also have Mark Vientos and J.T. Ginn in the wings.
The Rockies were expected to be major sellers at the deadline, moving free agent to be Trevor Story among others. For now, let’s take a look at who they have at the top of their system in 2021.
Cincinnati had an excellent draft in July. In fact, their first four picks from this year are in the organization’s top 12 prospects according to MLB.com. Did any of them make the top 5?
St. Louis has three prospects in MLB.com’s Top 100 currently. A couple of their other prospects could also move up into that select group. Let’s take a look at how the Cardinals’ top talent looks on the farm.
One would think the Los Angeles Dodgers’ farm system took a major hit when they traded RHP Josiah Gray and C Keibert Ruiz. While that is somewhat true, they are still pretty stacked in the minors, especially at the top.
While this will be the seventh year in a row the Detroit Tigers haven’t made the postseason, there is hope on the horizon.
