2019 AL Wild Card Preview: Well-Matched Teams Set for Unpredictable Battle

The Oakland Athletics have done it again; they find themselves back in the wild card game for the second straight year. Everyone counts them out every year, but they surprised us yet again as they set to matchup against another AL East team in the Tampa Bay Rays (lost to Yankees in last year’s wild card game). The Rays are also a team that finds different ways to win, and they were able to outlast a late surge by Cleveland to lock up a spot in this game. Neither team is one of the “elite” teams, but they still found a way to get a chance to meet up with the Houston Astros in the ALDS.

MLB DFS – AL Wild Card: Showdown Slate

The second of the winner-take-all games starts tonight as the Oakland Athletics host the Tampa Bay Rays to determine who will travel to Houston for the ALDS. In yesterday’s article, Joey Ricotta told you to have Yasmani Grandal as your Captain and he didn’t disappoint. Today we will see if we can call another one. Let’s get to it.

The MLB Postseason is here! I brought in Yankee fan @AlexKielar and @jball0202 to break down the early rounds of the Postseason.
We begin with surprise and disappointment teams, then break down the Wild Card games. We also ask, “Should the Wild Card round be one game or a best of 3?”
Afterward, we break down the Division Series and hand out the awards.

DraftKings Around the Horn September 11th, 2019

Glad to get back on board with baseball this week as, even though my NFL cash lineup performed as expected, it failed to cash in for my entry in a double-up contest. My last two lineups for MLB have resulted much better, however, so let’s continue the trend tonight for this full 14 gamer. Giddy up, we’re going for a trip Around the Horn!

Into the 80s with Tom Greene- A Possible Wild Card Matchup

The end of the baseball season is getting closer. As temperatures begin to drop, the heat begins to rise on the teams that haven’t yet joined the 80-win club. After a few days away to take care of employment situations, I return to bring you two more teams that have joined our club. The Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Indians have been battling all season to reach a postseason berth. Now that they’ve reached 80 wins, they both feel they’re almost there. And, they’re telling the rest of the 80s club, (indirectly) “Shut your halfwit pie-holes! We’re trying to make the playoffs!”

OK, that SpongeBob reference may not have been the 80s, but we’re breaking down a team that didn’t even exist in the 80s but have some pretty awesome  “Throwback” uniforms. The Rays help the sunrise on this edition of, “Backtrax MLB!”

DraftKings Around the Horn September 5th, 2019

Just seven games to break down in MLB DFS tonight. Stephen Strasburg is the number one pitcher option in a tough matchup at Atlanta after that is a whole bunch of mediocrity. A strategy that may be popular will be rostering two mid-tier pitchers to go along with some higher-priced bats. Minnesota will face Nathan Eovaldi at Fenway, the Rays get a home matchup against Trent Thornton and the Jays, and the ‘Stros will look to tee off at home against Marco Gonzalez and the Mariners. Let’s “Step into a Slim-Jim” and go Around the Horn!

Saturday in the Ballpark: MLB DFS Picks for August 24, 2019

“Saturday in the park, I think it was the Fourth of July.” You’ve heard the popular song, sung by the group Chicago. If you haven’t, then skip this entire introduction and watch the video below. Now that we’re on the same page, I figured today would be a perfect time to lighten the mood. Last night was god awful for me. I was a Max Kepler home run that went just foul past the right field foul pole, away from cashing in all across the board. Instead, I wound up losing a decent chunk of money. Oh well. It happens. That’s the baseball DFS grind. And believe me, it is a grind. But there is no time to dwell on the past. Tonight looks like a fun slate to wipe the slate clean and get back to our winning ways. I remixed the song just for this slate. – “Saturday in the ballpark, it feels like the Fourth of July.” I’m expecting all of our home runs to be fair and fireworks to follow. Without further ado, let’s get to the picks that will get the party started. Don’t forget to enjoy the real song as well.
