As 30 NHL teams released their protected lists for the upcoming Seattle Kraken expansion draft, it is time to make
The Seattle Kraken are getting ready to begin their NHL journey with the Expansion Draft taking place on Wednesday. The expansion draft is taking place with the same rules as the 2017 Expansion Draft that gave us the Vegas Golden Knights.
The Nashville Predators made a push in the latter half of the season, winning 20 of their last 28 games. That allowed them to pass the Dallas Stars and make it into the postseason. However, an early exit shows there’s still a lot of work to be done in Smashville.
The final part of the Expansion Draft prediction series is here! If you have read the others, you know that the only division missing is the Metropolitan. As was the case with the Atlantic and Central, there are eight teams to break down here, so let’s dive right in.
While the Wild may have ruined the Central edition with their announcement of buying out Ryan Suter and Zach Parise, the Atlantic is still innocent for now. So, before Jack Eichel eventually gets traded, let’s grind through this division.
Leading up to the next expansion draft in the NHL on July 21st, we have been previewing each team’s potential protected list and which player they will lose to the Kraken. Today is the Central Division. After only six teams in the Pacific will need to participate (aside from the Kraken, of course), the Central’s eight is a big boost up. They will also have a new team in this division, or at least when the season resets officially on July 28th. So, let’s make some predictions.
Later this month, we will have a full roster for the 32nd National Hockey League team. The Seattle Kraken will pick one player from almost every team, as they try to build a successful roster.
The New York Islanders came to within one win of a berth in last year’s Stanley Cup Final losing out to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Like all 32 National Hockey League franchises, the Islanders will look to bolster their team ahead of next season. One way to accomplish such a feat is through free agency.
One of the most disappointing teams this past season, the Calgary Flames settled for fifth in the North Division.
Aside from the Toronto Maple Leafs, no team had higher expectations entering the postseason than the Vegas Golden Knights. With perfect attendance in the playoffs and a very capable roster, the pressure continues to be on the Knights to succeed.
The Blues were able to make it into the playoffs for the 2020-21 season. However, their Stanley Cup dreams were crushed by the Colorado Avalanche in a four-game sweep. Now they need to reassess for next season.
