Multiple reports on Saturday said that the Matthew Stafford trade would be finalized before the Super Bowl. Well, the trade happened later that night. Late on Saturday night, the Detroit Lions found a trade partner for Stafford. Ultimately, it was the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams weren’t even thought of as a potential suitor until late in the process. The Rams divisional foe, the 49ers, was thought of to be the running partner for the Lions in the trade. In the end, the Rams gave a king’s ransom to the Lions for Stafford.

Last year, Lynn Bowden was in this territory, and this year, there is yet another player that could be held in the same regard. Demetric Felton was once a wide receiver once he made his way to UCLA, and then Chip Kelly turned him into a running back. Over the last two years, Felton has had 218 carries to go along with 77 catches. He is a swiss-army knife that can be deployed just about anywhere on the field.

In the NFL, there are plenty of cases where it is a family affair. First, you think of the Manning’s, Watt’s, Kelce’s, the list goes on. Trevon and Stefon Diggs were both recently brought back as brother’s in the league with Trevon playing for the Cowboys and Stefon for the Bills. Now, there is another case coming into the league. In 2017, the Raiders took Obi Melifonwu in the second round of the draft. Now, in 2021, his brother, Ifeatu Melifonwu is next to the big leagues. The younger Melifonwu brother originally spent time at safety before transitioning to cornerback for the Orange.
