Pat Riley finally landed an all-star this off-season in Jimmy Butler. After landing Butler, the Miami Heat’s focus now is pairing him with another all-star. To aide the Heat in their quest, Heat fans have been taking matters into their own hands through social media.
Gabe flies solo this week but invites Justin Doyle (@JustinRobDoyle) to come on the air and talk shop about the NBA. Justin and Gabe talked Celtics, GOATs, and the state of basketball in Florida so this is an episode you don’t want to miss! The 2018-19 NBA season was riddled with dismay for head coach Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics. Fast-forward to late
This episode Nick and Gabe talk about the results from this year’s FIBA tournament and the Kevin Durant’s Wall Street Journal article drama! Also Shaun Livingston and Joe Johnson. We were surprised about Team USA’s performance in the tournament and even more surprised by the championship game. How many of our bad basketball jokes can you hear us say without rolling your eyes? For the past three seasons, we’ve heard Jimmy Butler get called anything but a great leader. The national media painted Butler as a cancer to teammates, particularly younger players. However, New Orleans Pelicans guard J.J. Redick told Zach Lowe on his podcast that he doesn’t buy that narrative. Despite playing with Butler for less than one full season with the Philadelphia 76ers, the veteran guard had plenty of time to learn about Butler as a teammate.
Is it too farfetched to put all your faith in Kawhi “Fun Guy” Leonard to bring the Los Angeles Clippers their first NBA championship? After all, he was one more errant bounce away in his final shot from losing the series against the Philadelphia 76ers and this wasn’t even the Eastern Conference Finals. I heard many different people say during his free agency that wherever Kawhi goes, a championship will follow but is that fair? Is it fair to put all your eggs in one basket?
Fantasy basketball season is almost upon us and if you’re like anyone playing in the leagues that I’ve won in the past (humble flex, I’m cool with bragging about the one thing I’m good at), you want to know how I chose some of the players that I did. Did I go for big names? Did I pick players who no one knows? How many of X position players did I choose? The questions go on and on and on so let’s dive right in. These are my guidelines for picking the best roster you can possibly pick in any of your leagues.
There’s been a lot of optimism surrounding the Miami Heat this off-season. Not only because of the new addition of all-star forward Jimmy Butler but also because of Bam Adebayo. By trading Hassan Whiteside to Portland, the Heat are showing they fully believe in Adebayo. Another person who’s also very high on Adebayo is Chris Bosh.
Over the weekend it was reported that the recently retired Dwyane Wade would still be involved with NBA basketball in the 2019-20 season.
“Is Dwyane Wade coming back?” That’s the question that’s been thrown around by fans across all social media platforms. This all started when Wade was asked about coming back in a recent interview. In a column by Arash Markazi of the Los Angeles Times, Wade stated that he plans to stay in shape and that he wouldn’t rule out an NBA comeback.
