Coming into 2019 the Red Sox starting rotation was supposed to be one of their strengths. Unfortunately, this season has not gone as planned and due to inconsistency and injuries the Red Sox starters have not met expectations. Although it has been a disappointing season, Eduardo Rodriguez has been a bright spot on a struggling staff. The former top prospect is having the best season of his career. As the Red Sox fall are currently third in the AL East, Rodriguez is emerging as an ace.
The baseball season is a grind. It’s every single day. We will approach DFS the same way and be winners at the end of the season even if we have our hot streaks and slumps. Every day there are safe bets that flop and values that hit big, but we need to stick with our strategy in evaluating and playing. Let’s take a look at what we have today.
The end of the baseball season is getting closer. As temperatures begin to drop, the heat begins to rise on the teams that haven’t yet joined the 80-win club. After a few days away to take care of employment situations, I return to bring you two more teams that have joined our club. The Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Indians have been battling all season to reach a postseason berth. Now that they’ve reached 80 wins, they both feel they’re almost there. And, they’re telling the rest of the 80s club, (indirectly) “Shut your halfwit pie-holes! We’re trying to make the playoffs!”
OK, that SpongeBob reference may not have been the 80s, but we’re breaking down a team that didn’t even exist in the 80s but have some pretty awesome “Throwback” uniforms. The Rays help the sunrise on this edition of, “Backtrax MLB!”
Pitcher Ryan Perry was a cut above the rest when it came to his arm, even considered almost as good
Great baseball usually starts and ends with great pitching, and the 2019 Red Sox have been suspect at best in starting and finishing a ballgame.
Over the past few seasons, Jose Osuna has been one of the Pirates most interesting prospects. The Venezuelan native was signed by Pittsburgh a decade ago but never appeared on any top prospect lists. The Pirates, however, saw something in Osuna and invited him to Spring Training in 2017. Despite an impressive spring Osuna did not make the team out of camp but was one of the final cuts. Unfortunately for the Pirates super-utility weapon he was unable to build off his impressive camp and hit .233 in 104 games. So far this year, however, Osuna is living up to the potential Pittsburgh saw in him.
All of the madness and talk is swirling around the beginning of football season and understandably so, but the baseball season is still very much in full swing and actually just starting to heat up even more. Now that we’ve made it to September, the playoff picture is really beginning to take shape and it will be a wild final few weeks of regular season play. Many of you are still taking part in last-minute fantasy football drafts (I know because I am also). But why can’t we have our cake and eat it too? Let’s take a look at some players to target for tonight’s slate of games. Hopefully, this will help save you some time, allow you to set your lineups, and get back to your football research.
Elias is taking the Jeff Luhnow approach as he organizes a new staff.
