2021 NFL Draft: Day One’s Biggest Surprises
The dust is still settling from a chaotic first round last night. Trades all over the place, players sliding and players rising… it seemed to be a night that no one could have predicted.

The 2021 NFL Draft is full of players with family ties throughout the draft. A player that many aren’t talking about that also has family ties deeper in the draft is Blake Proehl. Proehl is the son of former receiver, Ricky Proehl and his brother is a receiver for the 49ers. The younger brother offers a different skillset than his brother and father and is hardly getting any talk as a day three steal.
The Chicago Bears have been an emotional rollercoaster. The one position that is a major issue is the most important one: quarterback. With an elite defense, not even a mediocre quarterback could make a legitimate playoff run.
On Friday, the Eagles made their second big trade of the offseason, trading back with the Miami Dolphins to pick number 12 in the first round. With that in mind, the Eagles will have 11 total picks this year, so let’s look at what they could do with them.
The 2020 cornerback class is full of players with family ties in the NFL. The biggest name of these players is Asante Samuel Jr, the son of pro-bowl cornerback Asante Samuel. The product out of Florida State is on the cusp of the first round. Some analysts even have him as their third-best cornerback on their board.
The pressure is on in Arizona. With the signing of J.J. Watt, the Cardinals now appear in win-now mode. In order for them to come out on top with so few picks, the Cardinals must ace this draft. Let’s jump in and see if the Cardinals can top the NFC West.
Jaycee Horn is one of the three consensus top prospects by many draft analysts. He is the son of former New Orelans Saints receiver, Joe Horn. After primarily being a safety during his freshman season in 2018, he made the switch to the cornerback position. He started out as a slot corner, but then made the transition to an outside cornerback. Let’s see if the hype is warranted.
The 2020 NFL season is over. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are Super Bowl champions for the second time in team history. With that said, the NFL now turns to the offseason. In this mock, the trades of Deshaun Watson and Carson Wentz are held off until compensation details become more clear with the potential trades. This two-round mock features 13 trades, including three in the top ten.
The NFL Draft season has begun with the conclusion of the Senior Bowl. With no combine and an unusual beginning to the offseason – largely due to a blockbuster trade before the Super Bowl, this will be one of the most unique draft seasons ever.
