It is a big day for the Motocross industry today in the shadow of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Feld Motor Sports and MXSports, the promoters of AMA Supercross and Motocross, haven’t been partners in the past per se.
The final true east coast round of AMA Pro Motocross was held at the famed Budds Creek facility just south of Washington D.C. After this it’s just Ironman then Pala again, then the season is a wrap.
After some incredible racing at Millville, AMA Pro Motocross shifted back to the west coast. More specifically the Pacific Northwest and Washougal, Washington. Heading into a double bye week, momentum was at a premium going into the final four rounds.
The seventh round of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross brought things to Millville, Minnesota. A literal backyard home event for the Martin Brothers, Alex, and Jeremy (on commentary this weekend), and the defacto home event for the returning Ryan Dungey.
After a dominant weekend from Honda HRC in So Cal, they looked to keep the good times rolling on the outskirts of Sacramento. Chase Sexton and Jett Lawrence led the way for the CRF Brigade, both holding six-point leads through two motos on the year.
Getting to the second part of our 450 Class Motocross preview, there are still several championship-caliber riders to touch base on. Star Yamaha most notably is sending out the All-Star trio of Eli Tomac, Christian Craig, and defending Champion Dylan Ferrandis.
18 weeks have flown by and this year’s Monster Energy Supercross season is now over. Last night Salt Lake City closed things out for the third consecutive year, and only the first time they have had just one round.
For the second weekend in a row, it was Championship Day in Monster Energy Supercross. Both Christian Craig and hometown hero Eli Tomac had clear roads to the 250 West and 450 Titles respectively.
Entering Saturday, just 10 riders in the history of Monster Energy Supercross had won multiple Premier Class Championships. That list is a whos-who in the sport, with names like Ricky Carmichael, Jeremy McGrath, James Stewart, Chad Reed, Jeff Stanton, etc.
For the third to last round of Supercross in 2022, the series returned to Foxborough, Massachusetts for the first time since 2018.
This weekend, Supercross takes place on the east coast for the final time of the season. The location; Gillette Stadium in Foxborough Massachusetts, which is just the third time ever Supercross will take place at the current home of the New England Patriots.
Although the season is well past halfway, Sunday marked the first of two Monster Energy Supercross 250 Showdown rounds. The top 250 East and West riders were pitted against each other in a race that has the potential to turn both title battles upside down.
