Last weekend, a lot of rookies had impressive games. The list is headlined by two of the quarterbacks who played great football.
We are almost there! The 2021 NFL season kicks off in exactly two months from today. Training camp kicks off at the end of the month, meaning the preseason isn’t far behind. While the Washington Football Team aren’t the favorites to win the NFC East division entering camp, they will be a force to deal with this season.
Every year in the NFL draft some surprise players go in the first round. It’s almost a guarantee that we’ll be surprised by a selection a teams make, normally in the latter part of the round.
In a time where it seems as if the Texans can’t do anything right, let’s break down what picks they should make if they want to improve their team in this month’s draft.
The New England Patriots enter this draft in a truly unique situation. Like always, defense remains an area of solidification no matter how strong the unit is. However, they might need help at quarterback and wide receiver, too, though Bill Belichick would tell you that his signings of Cam Newton, Nelson Agholor, and Kendrick Bourne are sufficient.
It was another cellar year for the Broncos as they finished with the lowest record in the AFC West at 5-11. The 2020 season was defined by injuries to top players and a developing offense that faced a few too many obstacles to overcome. That said, notice a lot of these picks are focused on getting the defense younger going forward.
After winning the NFC East with a 7-9 record, the Washington Football Team will have the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. While Washington signed Ryan Fitzpatrick in free agency, that won’t keep them from trading up in the first round for a quarterback if the deal is right.
Draft capital isn’t something the Los Angeles Rams were worried about when they traded for Matthew Stafford. All the wheeling and dealing has left the Rams with a talented core of veterans on both sides of the ball. Yet the glut of trades hasn’t fixed every hole on the roster.
The Kentucky Wildcats have sent talented linebacker prospects to the NFL on a regular basis over the last decade. While he may not be a big-name now, Jamin Davis will be a linebacker selected on day two of the draft that will have more of a return than some other prospects in the draft.
