This was enough to win the NFC East and get a birth into the playoffs, where they managed to win a game against the Seahawks, and then lose in the NFC Divisional Playoff game to the eventual Super Bowl participant Los Angeles Rams. During the season, they traded their first-round pick to the Oakland Raiders for WR Amari Cooper.

After winning their home playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks, 24-22, the Cowboys lost to the Los Angeles Rams 30-22 in the divisional round.
