Edmonton Oilers Season Preview
The Edmonton Oilers made the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 season a year ago. Winners of 35 games during the NHL’s COVID-19 shortened season, they finished in second place in the North Division.

The Edmonton Oilers headed into the 2021 NHL Draft with six selections. Without a pick in the second or third rounds, the team acquired forwards Andreas Athanasiou and Ryan Kuffner from the Detroit Red Wings. They sent back veteran Sam Ganger and a 2020 and 2021 second-round pick. In addition to this, general manager Ken Holland lost his original 3rd round choice in the deal for winger James Neal. Tied to a draft pick condition in the trade, the pick would be transferred if Neal scored 21 goals or more and veteran Milan Lucic scored ten or fewer goals than Neal during the 2019-20 season.

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl formed the best duo in the NHL during the 2020-21 season. The two have only appeared in three playoff series as members of the Edmonton Oilers, and not until now have they matched up against a Canadian foe in the postseason.
We are at it again with more picks. My focus will be on the high-flying North Division, the battle of Alberta, and the league’s best team continues their Western Canadian road trip.

Hello and welcome back. Overall, I had a pretty good week. I am up 2.5 units since sports started back
Donovan Hugel takes a look at the NHL’s three Hart Trophy finalists for this season.
Winning ten of their last eleven games, the Boston Bruins continued their hot stretch on Wednesday night as David Pastrnak led the way.
A little hiccup in the schedule as the normal full Thursday slate has only two games. As a result, we will cover this modest six-gamer and in all likelyhood Friday’s offerings. Tonight the high-event games appear to be as follows: Vancouver at the defensively-challenged L.A. Kings, Edmonton at Columbus, and Florida at Colorado. Let’s hop over the boards and go for a skate, time to make some Ice Picks.
