This second installment of “Into the 80s with Tom Greene” took a few days longer than I, or even the Astros, had anticipated. But, nonetheless, the Astros become the third team this season to join the 80-win club. This comes at no surprise to baseball fans, as the Astros have seemingly controlled the AL West since 2015. However, their vision looks farther than winning the West. They want another World Series title, and they want it now. Let’s break the Astros’ team.
81 wins for a teams means they are assured they can finish no worse than .500. However, if you have 80 wins in August, you’ll finish above .500, guaranteed. You’ll most likely make the playoffs, too. Of course, barring catastrophic injuries or a strike.
On the radio, Tom Kent brought us back into the 80s on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night, dependent on where you are in the nation and what radio station you listen to. It also saw the Astros visiting Cincinnati for the first time since their move to the American League in 2013. Let’s break this down for a second.
What better way to end Memorial Day than to watch two of the best pitchers in baseball? Clayton Kershaw verse Jacob deGrom.
The Dodgers are coming off a sweep in Pittsburgh against the Pirates and looking to extend their winning streak, while the Mets are coming off a series win against the Detroit Tigers in New York. Both teams will look to stay hot, as their aces battle it out on the mound tonight.
