Last Saturday night’s tumultuous end to the regular season has now ushered us into the round of 16. In keeping with recent tradition, Darlington will again host the first race in the Cup Series playoffs.
This week, the Money Train delves into the DFS options for Sunday’s Cup Series event in Atlanta, GA. I’ve broken down the selections between high salary, mid-range, and value play.
The hits keep coming for Kyle Larson, as he picked up his third straight Cup Series victory last Sunday at Nashville. Larson didn’t waste much time inhaling the first four drivers after qualifying as deep as fifth. After 300 laps, he led 264 of them.
In what was a miserable Sunday afternoon last week at the Circuit of the Americas as Chase Elliott again found himself on top at a road course. While he didn’t have the fastest car all day, Elliott was able to hover among the top-four drivers capitalizing on his opportunities.
The Cup Series stays in Daytona for another week. This following last Sunday’s season debut, which saw Front Row driver Michael McDowell collect his first-ever Daytona 500 win. However, instead of racing on the traditional 2.5-mile Superspeedway, they will be running on the Daytona Road Course.
The Silly Season had a handful of important driver shuffles, the most notable being the signing of Kyle Larson to Hendricks Motorsports. We’d also get the announcement of a brand-new team partnership between former NBA Player Michael Jordan and NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin.
Coming into Sunday with one last opportunity in which to qualify himself into the Championship Four and 26 points below cutoff, Chase Elliott was not prepared to leave anything to chance, as he was pretty much going to have to win in order to punch his ticket to Phoenix. In the end, there would be no doubt who was the dominant driver.
