Happy start of the NHL season to hockey fans everywhere. With games now in full swing on a nightly basis, the quest for all 32 teams to capture the Stanley Cup has begun.
Due to Covid restrictions, the Chicago Blackhawks played in a redrawn division in the Central. While they finished third last with a record of 24-25-7, on a brighter note, they did have a winning home record of 13-11.
The Chicago Blackhawks last won the Stanley Cup in the 2014-2015 season. Since then, they’ve only made the playoffs three times, with all three chances ending in first-round losses.
After finishing sixth in the Central Division, the Chicago Blackhawks and their fans experienced a disappointing season. While in a rebuild like other teams are, they still needed to perform at their best, and this season was not their best.
The NHL is expanding again, and you know what that means; one player from every team (except for the Golden Knights, who are a top-five team!) will prepare to move cities as they join the first class of the Seattle Kraken.
The NHL is in the latter stages of the regular season, and teams have made their choice of whether to go for the playoffs or stock up and try again next year. When the NHL made the new divisional alignment prior to the 2020-21 season, the Central Division was in for a fight.
The stars have aligned nicely for these games tonight to be very competitive. You can easily make the argument that every game on the evening docket is settled by just one goal. Nonetheless, let’s put our hockey brain in gear and breakdown our select favorites.
