The Atlanta Braves shocked the world and hoisted the Commissioner’s Trophy on Tuesday, closing out the World Series over the Houston Astros in six games. Despite losing their star player Ronald Acuna Jr. to a torn ACL on July 10, Marcell Ozuna to a domestic violence case, and Mike Soroka to an Achilles injury, the Braves found a way to overcome and conquer it all.

Although some teams in MLB would dream for a season like the one the Dodgers had, they might consider it a bust. Even with a record of 106-56, the Dodgers played the St. Louis Cardinals in the Wild Card Game, defeating them 3-1. They would go on to defeat the San Francisco Giants in five games in the NLDS, before falling to the World Series champion Atlanta Braves in six games in the NLCS. The Dodgers wanted to make a championship defense this season and made quite a few moves to try and get there.

The Milwaukee Brewers saw everything come together for them to essentially run away with the NL Central, winning 95 games which were one short of their franchise record of 96 wins in 2011. They ultimately ran into the eventual World Series champion Atlanta Braves in the NLDS, where they lost in four games.

After the Houston Astros won Game 5, the World Series returned to Houston for at least one more game. Max Fried shut down the Houston bats and the Braves offense came alive to three homers on their way to a 7-0 clinching game.

After another spectacular season from the Chicago White Sox, they fell to the Houston Astros in the ALDS.

The Houston Astros looked to be on their way to tying the World Series up at two games a piece. But it’s baseball, and everything can change in the blink of an eye. Or the stroke of a bat in a hitter’s hands. There were two huge swings that came in the seventh inning with the Atlanta Braves trailing. They would come back in the game to take a 3-1 series lead. They are not granted a chance to clinch in front of the Braves fans tonight in Game 5.

In a surprise that was foreseen by no one, the new manager of the San Diego Padres is Bob Melvin.

The San Francisco Giants came into the season with below-average expectations. With the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres coming into the year as World Series favorites, no one thought the Giants would be anything special.

The Pittsburgh Pirates finished 2021 with a 61-101 record. It was their third straight losing season as the rebuild continued.

The Oakland Athletics missed the postseason for the first time in four years. Let’s take a look at their season and hands out a few awards.

The Arizona Diamondbacks tied the Baltimore Orioles for the worst record in baseball. Nevertheless, let’s hand out some awards to put a positive spin on a dismal season.
