MLB awards are part of the wonders of baseball discourse. For some, it’s a simple decision, for others, there’s a large process into what makes someone the best or most valuable in their field.
The Oakland A’s missed the playoffs for the first time in four years finishing third in the AL West at 86-76. Let’s take a look at what the A’s need to focus on to get back to October baseball in 2022.
In the latest episode of Too Much Pod Tar, I was joined by a total of four guests. That includes two Atlanta Braves fans to break down them winning the World Series.
The Diamondbacks have their work cut out for them after suffering 110 losses last season. There are a few moves they could make to get back in the NL West.
The Minnesota Twins were quite a disappointment this season, finishing in last place in a weak American League Central at 73-89. Who will they be looking to add to turn it back around in 2022?
The Cincinnati Reds had a rollercoaster ride in 2021. They hovered around .500 for most of the early part of the season before rattling off nine wins in 11 games to start July.
The Atlanta Braves shocked the world and hoisted the Commissioner’s Trophy on Tuesday, closing out the World Series over the Houston Astros in six games. Despite losing their star player Ronald Acuna Jr. to a torn ACL on July 10, Marcell Ozuna to a domestic violence case, and Mike Soroka to an Achilles injury, the Braves found a way to overcome and conquer it all.
Although some teams in MLB would dream for a season like the one the Dodgers had, they might consider it a bust. Even with a record of 106-56, the Dodgers played the St. Louis Cardinals in the Wild Card Game, defeating them 3-1. They would go on to defeat the San Francisco Giants in five games in the NLDS, before falling to the World Series champion Atlanta Braves in six games in the NLCS. The Dodgers wanted to make a championship defense this season and made quite a few moves to try and get there.
The Milwaukee Brewers saw everything come together for them to essentially run away with the NL Central, winning 95 games which were one short of their franchise record of 96 wins in 2011. They ultimately ran into the eventual World Series champion Atlanta Braves in the NLDS, where they lost in four games.
After the Houston Astros won Game 5, the World Series returned to Houston for at least one more game. Max Fried shut down the Houston bats and the Braves offense came alive to three homers on their way to a 7-0 clinching game.
After another spectacular season from the Chicago White Sox, they fell to the Houston Astros in the ALDS.
