Surprising Hot Seats in the NFL

NFL

Next season, we have a few NFL front offices sitting on warm seats. While most of the league is on stable ground, we have a few spots that could be open soon. At the same time, we could have a surprise opening as we have had in years past. While we know the most likely jobs to be on the market, there will always be a job or two that will shock the football world. First, however, we can go into detail about the top jobs on the hot seat next year. With other jobs most likely open it’s the jobs that are the surprising ones that we need to talk about.

Check out more of our NFL coverage here.

Kliff Kingsbury, Arizona Cardinals

With Kingsbury unable to do anything in the playoffs the last few seasons, his job could become available. His job is on the hot seat with the lack of playoff success and the fan base turning on him. It’s been well established that the team can’t find any success in the playoffs even with a ton of help around Kyler Murry. The Cardinals won’t get rid of Murry but firing their head coach could be the fix the team needs. Furthermore, if the team doesn’t have a deep post-season run, they could be looking for a new head coach.

Matt Canada, Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers wanted a more balanced offense when they hired offensive coordinator Canada. However, they did get a balanced offense. They have been a declining offense the last few seasons. With the new quarterbacks on the roster, they could be looking to move on if the offense doesn’t come back to form. At the same time, Canada will have to step up his game and dial up a better offense. If either the rookie Kenny Pickett or the veteran Mitchell Trubisky, the offense will have to be better.

Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks

With the Seahawks looking to get a fresh start and going through a rebuild, Carroll might not be the man for the job. After trading away superstar quarterback Russell Wilson, the team will be bad for a few years. Also, with Carroll being 70 years old, he might want to leave the organization and try to get another ring somewhere else. While Carroll and the Seahawks might have a mutual interest in parting ways, he isn’t the guy to man the ship during a rebuild.

Jack Del Rio, Washington Commanders

Del Rio has been on the news lately after getting fined for his recent comments and had to issue a public apology. However, the defensive coordinator for the Commanders has been struggling to live up to his job title. Last year the Commanders defense was terrible, and a lot falls on Del Rio. Through Week 10, they ranked 28th in points allowed and was a big reason for the team struggling. Furthermore, he could be looking for a new job with another disappointing season.

Steve Keim, Arizona Cardinals

With Keim being in charge of the Cardinals since 2013, his time could end. After many seasons marred in disappointment, he must have a winning and post-season season. At the same time, with Kingsbury on the hot seat, the Cardinals could be looking to get a new person in charge on the field and in the front office. With the ongoing struggle of negotiating a new contract with Murry, the Cardinals could be looking to bring in new faces. Furthermore, Keim has a problem with overpaying for players, which has put his team in a challenging situation.
