The Pittsburgh Steelers announced they have placed their franchise tag on a franchise favorite. 27-year-old linebacker Bud Depree is the Steelers’ recipient of the tag and rightfully so.

Dupree had a great season in 2019 as he finished the year with a career-high 11.5 sacks. He had recorded at least four sacks in each of his first five seasons, rounding out his total of 31.5 career sacks. Dupree also set a single-season high with 16 tackles for a loss in 2019. Dupree also added four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 2019.
Dupree has never made a Pro Bowl but is still a huge part of the Steelers. His presence on and off the field make him a fan favorite and head coach Mike Tomlin loves his leadership and veteran presence.
The former first-round selection in 2015 won AFC Defensive Player of the Week in the 2019 season’s eighth week following a great showing vs. the Colts.
