MVP Predictions

Nick Athan predicts Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will win NFL MVP

Mahomes has stood out since becoming the Chiefs’ quarterback in 2018. He has won three Super Bowls, three Super Bowl MVPs, and two NFL MVP awards. This season, I expect him to achieve career-highs in passing yards and touchdowns. Despite its outcome, he admitted 2023 was a bad season for the offense. Now that he has many new weapons, he’s the best bet to have one of the best seasons of his career.

Brendan Carpenter predicts Packers QB Jordan Love will win NFL MVP

Love showed the growth and production the Packers were hoping for in the second half of last season. His touchdown-to-interception ratio was among the best, he controlled the offense, and he led the team to a dominant playoff win. His improvements (and those of his supporting cast) will continue and lead him to his first MVP.

This has been the “safe” pick for a few years and will continue to feel like a cop-out for the next decade. However, I can’t shake this feeling that Mahomes is going to build off a slightly down (by his standards) 2023 season and come out roaring in 2024. A healthy, relentless core of Travis Kelce, Isiah Pacheco, Rashee Rice, and Xavier Worthy will help Mahomes take home some hardware.

Colton Edwards predicts Texans QB C.J. Stroud will win NFL MVP

I expect Stroud to take another leap instead of the usual sophomore slump. Has a more dynamic offense around him with one of the best offensive coordinators in the game. With another offseason under his belt and the way he progresses on the field, no one will stop him.

Emily Gates predicts Bills QB Josh Allen will win NFL MVP

Allen will get help from the fresh receiving talent Buffalo acquired this past offseason. The Bills’ offense will be able to spread the ball more and Allen will have the best season of his career en route to winning MVP.

Patrick Weider predicts Packers QB Jordan Love will win NFL MVP

Love had a good season in 2023 but takes a step forward this year and wins the MVP.

Suhaib Sharha predicts Texans QB C.J. Stroud will win NFL MVP

Coming off an elite rookie season in which he threw for over 4,000 yards and only five interceptions, Stroud proved that he can be amongst the game’s elite quarterbacks. This past offseason, the Texans added the likes of Stefon Diggs and Joe Mixon and are also getting Tank Dell from injury. These moves should only make Stroud even better. Headlining one of the league’s most elite offenses, Stroud is my pick to win MVP honors this season.

MVP votes: Love (2), Mahomes (2), Stroud (2), Allen (1)

Rookie of the Year Predictions

Nick Athan predicts Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy will win NFL Rookie of the Year

Worthy was a late first-round pick by the Chiefs. The speedster from Texas is one of the most disciplined route runners to come out of college in a long time. With Patrick Mahomes’ terrific quarterbacking and Worthy’s talent, the sky is the limit for this duo.

Brendan Carpenter predicts Commanders QB Jayden Daniels will win NFL Rookie of the Year

I’m sure the easy choice is Caleb Williams with the ridiculous amount of offensive support he has in Chicago. However, Daniels has help, too, with Terry McLaurin, Brian Robinson Jr., and Austin Ekeler. He’ll also have to do a little more himself, like running, which should give him more opportunities to shine.

Andersen Pickard predicts Commanders QB Jayden Daniels will win NFL Rookie of the Year

Of all my picks, this one comes with the most confidence. I’ve been vocal about my belief that Daniels was the best quarterback prospect in this year’s draft. While planting my flag like that has burned me before (see Zach Wilson in 2020), I just can’t get enough of Daniels’ game. The LSU product’s rookie season will be a highlight reel in itself. He’ll secure Rookie of the Year to kick off a dominant NFL career.

Colton Edwards predicts Bears WR Rome Odunze will win NFL Rookie of the Year

He will turn out to be the best rookie receiver due to his ability to win in the red zone. He doesn’t have to worry about double coverage because of Allen and Moore. Odunze possesses strong hands, very good hand-eye coordination, and the will to win in contest situations.

Emily Gates predicts Commanders QB Jayden Daniels will win NFL Rookie of the Year

Even though the Commanders’ roster on paper is subpar, Daniels will elevate his team and become one of the best rookies in the NFL this upcoming season.

Patrick Weider predicts Bears QB Caleb Williams will win NFL MVP

The No. 1 pick in the draft will have a great season for the Bears. He has all the talent to play well at quarterback for Chicago this season.

Suhaib Sharha predicts Bears QB Caleb Williams will win NFL Rookie of the Year

Yes, I know this is the obvious answer, but I feel like it is the right one. Williams is one of the best prospects coming out of the draft and he comes into a situation that No. 1 overall picks rarely get. Similar to Stroud, everything is set up nicely for Williams to have a really strong rookie season this year.

Rookie of the Year votes: Daniels (3), Williams (2), Odunze (1), Worthy (1)

Super Bowl Predictions

Nick Athan predicts the Chiefs will defeat the Packers in Super Bowl LIX

The Chiefs are attempting to become the first three-peat Super Bowl champion. It’s never been done; indeed, it’s a record that most feel is unattainable. However, with the combination of Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones, I would not bet against them. In a rematch of Super Bowl I, the Chiefs defeat the Packers.

Brendan Carpenter predicts the Jets will defeat the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX

The Eagles ended last year terribly and completely revamped their offense by adding Saquon Barkley and Jahan Dotson, which should propel them back to the top. The Jets have a brand new line and arguably the best roster in the NFL. If Rodgers stays upright and has a solid (not even MVP-caliber) season, the Jets may win it all.

Andersen Pickard predicts the Lions will defeat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX

I keep going back and forth on my pick for the NFC representative and the overall winner. While the Packers and 49ers have my attention, I can’t get over the fact that Detroit made a deep playoff run last year despite many NFL fans thinking they’d fall short of the playoffs. This Lions-Chiefs matchup will go down to the wire, but I’m taking the Dan Campbell-led squad to ruin Kansas City’s shot at a three-peat.

Colton Edwards predicts the Lions will defeat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX

The Lions bounce back after the crucial blow in last year’s NFC Championship while the Chiefs look for the three-peat. I expect the Lions to end the Swifties’ parade.

Emily Gates predicts the Chiefs will defeat the Lions in Super Bowl LIX

The Chiefs are the team to beat in the AFC and are looking for a three-peat when it comes to Super Bowl rings. The Detroit Lions are poised for a big run and should make it further than they did last year.

Patrick Weider predicts the Packers will defeat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX

Mahomes versus Love. It will be a great Super Bowl, and in the end, Green Bay will thwart Kansas City’s quest for a three-peat.

Suhaib Sharha predicts the Chiefs will defeat the Lions in Super Bowl LIX

I feel like these are the two most complete teams in football. Both have elite offenses and both have some great playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. This was the Super Bowl we should have seen last season and I believe we will finally get it this year. Ultimately, the experience of Kansas City will prove to be too much for the Lions, who come up short yet again.

Super Bowl champion picks: Chiefs (3), Lions (2), Jets (1), Packers (1)

Super Bowl berth picks: Chiefs (6), Lions (4), Packers (2), Eagles (1), Jets (1)

Playoff Sleeper Predictions

Nick Athan predicts the Chargers are playoff sleepers

The Los Angeles Chargers might be that sleeper team this season. Jim Harbaugh is a winner, and it will take time to get the Chargers out of their recent losing ways. However, if quarterback Justin Herbert is healthy and buys into the Harbaugh offensive philosophy, they could be a Wild Card team this year.

Brendan Carpenter predicts the Steelers are playoff sleepers

The Steelers have two new quarterbacks in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, and both are expected to see the field. People don’t really feel great about that situation, but the Steelers have been there before. If they get even the slightest improvement in quarterback play, their defense could carry them into the playoffs.

Andersen Pickard predicts the Cardinals are playoff sleepers

This selection gave me some pause, mainly because I think so many teams are capable of making the playoffs and it was difficult to label some teams as true “sleepers.” Teams like the Raiders, Seahawks, Falcons, Commanders, and Colts all fell into this group. Instead, I’ll go with a slightly more unconventional pick: the Cardinals, who went 4-13 last year. Pairing the best prospect in the draft, Marvin Harrison Jr., with Kyler Murray is a recipe for success. Meanwhile, Trey McBride could be the NFL’s best tight end in a few years while James Conner remains impressive late in his career. The other side of the ball concerns me, but I think the offense will make up for the defensive deficiencies.

Colton Edwards predicts the Raiders are playoff sleepers

The Raiders have a top-10 defensive unit that got better in the trenches. The offensive line was underrated last season and got better as well. Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, Tre Tucker, and Brock Bowers complete a dynamic receiving group. If the quarterback room can play somewhat average, they will make the playoffs.

Emily Gates predicts the Panthers are playoff sleepers

Dave Canales seems to be the right hire, and during the offseason, Carolina gave Bryce Young all the offensive support needed for him to succeed. The offense play-calling will be much better with Canales than it was with Frank Reich.

Patrick Weider predicts the Seahawks are playoff sleepers

New head coach Mike Macdonald has changed the vibe in Seattle. I expect a big year from the Seahawks.

Suhaib Sharha predicts the Commanders are playoff sleepers

With a new regime in place, this Commanders team improved in so many areas compared to last year’s team and I feel like they have a nice mix of young talent and veteran leadership. If Daniels is as advertised, I could see this Commanders team sneaking into the playoffs in a weak NFC this season.

Sleeper votes: Cardinals (1), Chargers (1), Commanders (1), Panthers (1), Raiders (1), Seahawks (1), Steelers (1)

No. 1 Pick Predictions

Nick Athan predicts the Broncos will get the NFL Draft’s No. 1 pick

The Broncos might have head coach Sean Payton, but he’s placed his entire future on quarterback Bo Nix. Generally, rookie quarterbacks struggle in Year 1, and to be successful, Nix needs to have the roster fortune that Caleb Williams has with the Bears. I think Payton is out of touch as an NFL head coach and could be entering his final year in Denver.

Brendan Carpenter predicts the Patriots will get the NFL Draft’s No. 1 pick

The Patriots drafted UNC quarterback Drake Maye but named Jacoby Brissett the Week 1 starter. No matter who starts, there is relatively no help on offense. With no offensive firepower and a defense that will be sure to regress (especially without Matthew Judon), the Patriots will again be drafting high next season.

Andersen Pickard predicts the Giants will get the NFL Draft’s No. 1 pick

I’m having trouble seeing how this Giants team wins more than a few games in 2024. Malik Nabers is cool, but what does it matter if Daniel Jones can’t get him the ball? I have my doubts about their so-called “upgrades” on the offensive line and I’ve never believed in the Brian Daboll hype. Meanwhile, their trade for Brian Burns is promising, but that’s not enough to get them out of the basement. After all, the Panthers had Burns on their roster last year and still finished with the NFL’s worst record. On a positive note, the Giants will have their choice of quarterbacks at No. 1 overall. Goodbye, Daniel Jones.

Colton Edwards predicts the Patriots will get the NFL Draft’s No. 1 pick

Horrible team all around — from coaching to play-calling to personnel.

Emily Gates predicts the Giants will get the NFL Draft’s No. 1 pick

Daniel Jones does not look promising as a franchise quarterback and New York seems to be in disarray. The talent within that organization is just pitiful.

Patrick Weider predicts the Panthers will get the NFL Draft’s No. 1 pick

The Panthers continue to have many holes on their roster and are deep in a multi-year rebuild. They’ll finish with the NFL’s worst record for the second consecutive year.

Suhaib Sharha predicts the Patriots will get the NFL Draft’s No. 1 pick

This team is really bad. They have a poor offensive line, no real WR1, a first-time head coach — there are just so many question marks surrounding this Patriots team. Add in the fact they are in one of the toughest divisions in football and have a tough schedule, it looks like this will be a really rough year for the New England Patriots.

No. 1 pick votes: Patriots (3), Giants (2), Broncos (1), Panthers (1)
