One of the most interesting players to watch in the next few weeks will be Detroit Pistons point guard, Derrick Rose. Rose is having a fantastic season, putting up nearly 19 points and six assists per game while trying to lift his current team into the playoffs.
However, he might find himself on a new team soon. League sources tell Prime Time Sports Talk that the Pistons have engaged with multiple teams on trade talks involving Derrick Rose.
Rose is signed through the end of the 2021 season, which makes him a bit more attractive for teams seeking help now and next season.
Another plus is that Rose is on the books for $7.67 million, which is great value for the production Rose has shown in the last 14 months.
Here are some of the teams who have shown interest, according to league sources:
New York Knicks
The Knicks, who have been searching for some sort of point guard play in the last four to five years, are eyeing Rose with the possibility of having him take over the starting role for the next season and a half. New York also feels Rose’s relationships with impending free agents could help them lure some talent in the summer.
Denver Nuggets
One name tossed around in a potential deal would be Malik Beasley. Beasley is a young, 23-year-old guard who can play on both ends of the floor, something that Detroit is seeking.
Philadelphia 76ers
Many in the 76ers’ organization feel that this is the year they break through and reach the NBA Finals. Adding Rose would instantly add scoring off the bench and also allow Ben Simmons to work freely off the ball, if needed. Rose would fit perfectly in a Philly team that is built to win now.
