The NFL All-Decade Team for the 2010s was released early Monday morning, headlining some of the best players from the past 10 seasons.
The Kansas City Chiefs hold six roster spots on the team, good for second-most behind the Patriots’ eight.
Take a look at which Chiefs made the roster:
Travis Kelce | Tight End
Kelce has been one of the top tight ends in the league after being drafted by the Chiefs back in 2013. Throughout his NFL career, he has totaled 6,465 receiving yards on 507 receptions while adding 37 touchdowns. Kelce has been named to the Pro Bowl five times and the All-Pro team twice. He joins Rob Gronkowski as the only two tight ends to make the All-Decade roster.
Eric Berry | Safety
Eric Berry, the 10th overall pick in the 2010 draft, has proven himself to be one of the best safeties in the NFL over the past decade. Berry’s physical play and ability to read opposing quarterbacks contributed to his exceptional stat line. In nine seasons with the Chiefs, Berry had 445 tackles, 14 interceptions, and five defensive touchdowns.
Not only has Berry shown us his football talents on the field, but he also demonstrated his extreme resilience. Back in 2014, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The following season, after being cleared of cancer, Berry returned and put together a phenomenal season, being named AP Comeback Player of the Year and making the Pro Bowl. Berry retired from the NFL last year and missed out on the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win.
Tyreek Hill | Punt Returner
We all know how good of a wide receiver Tyreek Hill is, but he was actually named to the All-Decade team for his punt returning abilities. Since being drafted by the Chiefs in 2016, Hill has returned 85 punts for a total of 1,009 yards and four touchdowns. His best return came back in Week 17 of the 2016 season when he returned a punt 95 yards for a touchdown. Hill joins Darren Sproles as the only punt returners on the All-Decade roster.
Tyrann Mathieu | Defensive Back
Although Tyrann Mathieu has only been with Kansas City for one season, he did show up and win a Super Bowl, making it clear that he was a huge reason for the Chiefs’ success. Mathieu has spent his career with three different squads since being drafted in 2013. He spent his first five seasons in the league with the Cardinals, tallying 11 interceptions, four forced fumbles, and 308 tackles. After a brief, one-year stint with the Houston Texans, Mathieu and the Chiefs agreed to a three-year, $42 million dollar deal.
LeSean McCoy | Running Back
Similarly to Mathieu, this past season was the first in a Chiefs uniform for LeSean McCoy after he played his first six seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and was arguably the best running back in the entire NFL.
In 2011, McCoy led the league with 20 total touchdowns. Just two years later in 2013, he was No. 1 again but this time in yards, with 1,607 on the ground and a whopping 2,146 total yards. McCoy then went on to play four seasons with the Buffalo Bills where he had over 3,800 rushing yards and 30 total touchdowns. Despite being on the backside of his career, McCoy has clearly earned the right to make the All-Decade roster for the 2010s.
Darrelle Revis | Cornerback
Revis joined the Chiefs back in 2017 for one season before retiring from the NFL the following year. The bulk of Revis’s dominance came while a part of the New York Jets franchise, where he was given the nickname “Revis Island.” As a member of the Jets, Revis had 25 interceptions, 10 fumble recoveries, and 388 tackles. He also played one season for the Buccaneers and one season for the Patriots in which he won a Super Bowl. Without a doubt, Revis belongs on the 2010s All-Decade roster and should go down as one of the greatest cornerbacks not only of the decade but of all-time.
