Final Score: Ravens 37, Seahawks 3
Entering the week, this was one of the marquee matchups between two playoff contenders. The Seahawks were coming in after beating an AFC North contender, the Cleveland Browns. The Baltimore Ravens stomped the Lions two weeks earlier but still didn’t get the respect they deserved from the media. They definitely got their respect after burying the Seahawks on Sunday, holding Seattle to 151 total yards and just one third-down conversion.
The Ravens’ defense was a steady ghost for Geno Smith and company. Defensive coordinator Mike MacDonald pressured Smith into a 13-for-28 line with 157 yards and one interception. To add insult to injury, rookie running back Keaton Mitchell almost matched Geno Smith’s passing yardage in rushing yards with his nine carries, 138 yards, and one touchdown performance. The Ravens, having stomped two playoff teams in three weeks, put the entire NFL on notice.

Looking Forward
This was a very surprising outcome. The Seahawks were expected to be a lot better and furthered that narrative acquiring Leonard Williams at the deadline. Seattle also came off a gritty win versus the Browns one week earlier. This matchup with the Ravens set up for interesting football, but Jackson and the Ravens’ defense were just too much to handle.
The Seahawks may need to evaluate how much of a contender they are. Out of their five wins, only two have come against teams above .500 (Cleveland and Detroit). They’re close, and certainly closer than expected after the Russell Wilson era, but they may not make it out of the Wild Card or Divisional Round.
For the Ravens, their upcoming schedule will be must-watch TV. They face the Browns in Week 10 and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11. If these last two beatdowns against the Seahawks and Lions don’t tell you anything, a win against Cincinnati and Joe Burrow will.
