Rondale Moore Opts Out of 2020 Season

Once again, yet another potential first-round prospect for the 2021 draft has opted out. This time, it’s Purdue wide receiver, Rondale Moore. Moore follows fellow receiver, Rashod Bateman as potential first-round receivers that have opted out for the 2020 season. He took to Twitter to announce his decision on Thursday evening.

Once the top player in the state of Kentucky, Moore took his talents to Purdue instead of going to Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and a bevy of other programs. Moore only played in four games in the 2019 season and had two touchdowns on 29 catches where he posted 387 yards. During his freshman campaign, he burst onto the scene where he caught 114 passes where he compiled 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Draft Network has him listed as the 17th-ranked prospect in the 2021 draft class. While Moore doesn’t have the elite frame for a receiver, he has all the speed and explosiveness in the world and is in the mold of Deebo Samuel and Laviska Shenault where he can play receiver and a bit of running back. For instance, he had 213 rushing yards as a freshman. The combine will make his stock soar through the roof once again and he shouldn’t have much of a fall in the draft due to his opt-out. Coming in at 5’9″ and 181 lbs, Moore is similar to Marquise Brown. The only flaw in this situation is his health, similar to Brown, but he’ll have enough time to get that out of the way before the combine.

With Bateman and now Moore opting out, prospects like Jaylen Waddle and Ja’Marr Chase can separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Purdue meanwhile, will be without their best player and will have to find a new superstar this year after finishing fifth in the big-ten west with a lowly 3-6 record.
