Revolution Fight for Playoff Spot Against Chicago Fire

This Saturday, the New England Revolution take on the Chicago Fire at 7:30 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.

The Revolution are unbeaten in their last three games—drawing twice and winning once—while the Fire are coming off an incredible 4-0 victory over Orlando City SC.

New England is in need of a victory at home as a win would put them back in the races for a low playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Chicago sits in 10th place, seven points behind the Revolution, but a strong run of form could potentially see them grasping at a spot in the playoffs.

New England’s last match against LAFC saw Brandon Bye grab a point for the Revs in the 82nd minute, putting them two places behind a playoff spot. Brad Friedel’s side didn’t control possession but had plenty of more chances against the third-place team in the Western Conference.

The Fire’s last game showed clear dominance over Orlando City, with Nemanja Nikolic scoring a brace while Aleksander Katai and Michael de Leeuw both added to the scoresheet. Chicago took their chances well in the game, as they scored four goals with only six shots on goal.

A win over the Fire could see the Revolution one point behind the sixth place Montreal Impact, who the Revolution have a game in hand on. If D.C. United lose to the Vancouver Whitecaps, New England will be in great position to get into a comfortable playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
