Shortly after news of George Kittle agreeing to a contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers broke, word out of Kansas City is that the Chiefs are on the verge of locking up their own Pro Bowl tight end for the foreseeable future.
Two-time All-Pro Travis Kelce is said to be near an agreement that will keep him in in a Chiefs uniform through the 2025 season. His third NFL contract will add four more years onto the two remaining in his current deal.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the deal pays Kelce $57 million, good for an AAV of $14.25 million.
It stands to be a nice payday for Kelce, though unlikely to carry the same amount of guaranteed money with him set to turn 31 years old in less than two months. Regardless, he has only seen an uptick in production as one of Patrick Mahomes’s favorite targets in the vaunted Chiefs offense.
In addition to his two All-Pro nods, Kelce has made the Pro Bowl in five straight seasons and caught 507 passes for 6,465 yards while accounting for 38 total touchdowns in six seasons as a starter.
