We’ve got another trade, and this one has been in the works for several days.
The Chicago Cubs have added a very underrated outfielder to help add depth to their roster, acquiring veteran Cameron Maybin from the Detroit Tigers. In return, the Cubs are sending infielder Zack Short to Detroit.

Maybin hasn’t really done much and is more of an “in case of injury” player, especially on a team that already has impressive offensive production. While not a blockbuster trade, this type of trade is quite critical for a team preparing for a playoff pursuit.
The Cubs currently sit in first place in the NL Central with a comfy 3.5-game lead over the Saint Louis Cardinals.
The Cubs’ current outfield consists of Ian Happ, Albert Almora Jr., Jayson Heyward, Ian Miller, Kyle Schwarber, Steven Souza Jr., and Maybin, who can swing a hot bat when given a chance but might not see a large amount of playing time.
